Picked Upload!   This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
When uploading one of my latest dwellings, the Chateau De Soleil, one of the moderators told me that I have created a “versaillesque” look of the building and that got me thinking that I should create something really Versailles-inspired. I looked at some pictures of the palace, I also did a little tour within it via Google street view and started thinking about the proportions of the palace compared to the proportions of buildings in The Sims 3. When I tried to create a full-scale plan of the palace it happened so that I would need a lot that is at least 100x100 squares big, so I started to look up in the web how to create bigger lots on the Sims, but most comments told me that this will make my game crash, so I decided to make lemonade from 64x64 lots. I will explain with a picture how to get the perfect place for the palace and garden lots. The dwelling needed to become smaller, so I left only the central part that is the honorable court and the back of the Hall of Mirrors.

The best news is that the upload is absolutely custom content and store content free!

This one of my uploads is a little demanding – it requires you to use three of your lots in Sunset Valley for the perfect placement of the palace. I apologize that this should happen that way, but I really wanted to create a big composition of buildings and parks, that deserves to be called a palace. You will have to remove the Alto household and place a 64x64 lot on top of it. After that you have to place another 64x64 lot right behind the one placed to the street. I will explain a bit later why does the garden has to be so big.

When thinking of a palace we usually have the image of all the splendor in our minds, but think again – isn’t the Honorable court a little pushy? You find yourself locked between three giant walls with windows that tell you you are not in charge here. Do people really need two-storey bedrooms covered in fabrics? Would you feel comfortable living in such a giant dwelling with almost no privacy? I think that those are also a set of problems that I have put into this building.
Now it is time to tell you about the garden. The chateau is very big and it is completely symmetrical. Symmetry gives us a very strong sense of order and such a big building just must not have a little backyard that ends nowhere. That is why I added the gardens in the back and front – they continue the line of symmetry and complete the building’s demand for space and order around it.
