Willis Manor

Hey all! I have a huge fascination with old architecture, specifically the houses and grand manors that line the eastern coast of the US. This house was greatly inspired by Jennings Hall in Bennington, VT (as seen below). Jennings Hall is pretty fascinating, though there is unfortunately not much information on the history of the structure itself, besides the fact it is what inspired Shirley Jackson's famous horror novel, "The Haunting of Hill House." The house is apparently known to be haunted today, and acts as the music building in Bennington College.





Willis Manor and was inhabited by the reputable Willis family of Sunset Valley. Gerard Willis and his family which lived in the house for four generations, until the last owner of the house, Virginia Willis died without a will, taking her surname and her reputation along with her. The house was given to the bank and then sat on the hill for nearly half a century. It was purchased in an auction and then fixed up by Geoffrey Langraab, whose family was in close contact with the Willis family. He fixed up the house to its original splendor and made the interior more contemporary and comfortable. The newly renovated Willis Manor is now up for sale and neighbors the Landgraab and Alto mansions at 51 Summer Hill Court.

The manor consists of 3 large bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Among other rooms are: a great room, study, foyer, back foyer, dining room, side hall, and a kitchen.


I used quite a bit of CC, listed below. Much of it is baufive's amazing rugs which, without their existence, would make my mansion-building feel much more incomplete.
