In-game lot description

Local legend has it that this manor was built by Gustav Delacroix for his lover, Griselda, who wanted a romantic getaway spot.
However, she hated the house, leaving the heartbroken Gustav to a life of isolated solitude.
After several owners, some more questionable than others, the house mysteriously became engulfed in rock,
a phenomenon whose origins are still the subject of heated debates.

This house and its backstory are heavily inspired by the awesome Rose Red: the "Mildly Malevolent Manor" has a strange past which includes mysterious disappearances, odd noises coming from below the ground, and owners not sticking around for too long. Even the homeless who occasionally take shelter in the groundskeeper's shack never stay for more than one night!

Details

- 40x40 lot, zoned as Residential;
- Basegame only! No custom content, store content, or EP/SP content required!
- the exterior is shaped with CFE in mind, so be careful if you want to modify the exterior;
- routing is good to all points of interest of the lot (pond, shack, entrance, secret basement exit);
- features a small pond in the back, with a fish spawner (the only spawner on the lot);
- the groundskeeper's sparsely furnished shack is on the farther left (1 single bed, 1 bathroom);
- features a large basement with rooms that look suspiciously like early Sim-era dungeons.
One owner even painted the ground floor green on the outside, and now it's nearly impossible to know it's there!

Rooms

Proper basement: 1 small entrance hallway, 2 long hallways, 3 secret rooms
Faux basement (actual level 1): master bedroom (1 double bed), kids' bedroom (2 single beds), nursery (1 crib), bathroom
Ground floor (actual level 2): foyer, living room, kitchen, hallway leading to upper floor
First floor (actual level 3): common room, office, bathroom, abandoned art (?) room, ladder to attic
Attic (actual level 4): small room, chess table
The groundskeeper's shack is at faux basement level.

The exterior is run down and it's quite obvious where the previous owners tried to mend the house. The interior is a mish-mash of different styles, due to all the objects the previous owners left behind. It's up to you if you want to play it as-is or renovate it! The "proper" basement has great possibilities for expansion as well (I think it's my favorite part of this, lol, it's so gloomy!)

Spoilers

The room in the attic features a tall mirror and some candles - what could they be for?
The hidden basement has two entrances/exits: one from the groundskeeper's shack, and the other on the right of the lot, among bushes.
The mismatched wallpapers are on purpose to show where owners tried to rebuild the house
Not really a spoiler, but you could build a tomb in the basement if you wanted to, due to its placement!
You could also connect the faux basement with the real one if you want to.

(The way I imagined it, some Sims got too carried away with Dark rituals and the house is now cursed for good!)

Shameless self-advertising

I initially posted this on Tumblr, with a few extra goodies: a .package version, and an OBJD edit that makes all the plants used on this lot cost $0!
Of course, you don't have to get these if you feel like spending more money
