Edit 3 Nov 2016: changed the name of the mod from "Less magic power decay for witches" to "Spells Require Less Magic Power", because the former wasn't an accurate description at all.

I've been displeased with how fast magic power drains ever since I got SN. Witches are the occult lifestate I play most often, and heavily (ab)use the Convert spell. As a result of this gripe, I dug around in the game files and made this mod.

There are two versions: one that reduces magic power decay for all spells to 5, and one that reduces it by half of EA's values. Choose only one!

Most of the time, magic power will replenish fast enough to avoid any drawbacks to still having some decay. Only exception is during the new moon, when magic power takes longer to replenish than usual. However, simply having your witch do something like take a shower or eat a meal will bring their magic power up to satisfactory levels.

* EA assigned no decay for magically upgrading an object, which is silly. For the "halved" version of the mod, I set a value of 20 to match the other spells.

Details:
  • This is an XML tuning mod and will conflict with other tuning mods that alter the MagicWand XMLs.
  • However, it doesn't conflict with Arsil's Restoration Spell Fix, since that one uses a custom script.
  • Built on game version 1.63, but shouldn't conflict with other patch versions.
  • Plop it in your Mods folder and make sure to delete scriptCache, just in case.
