Boy howdy, is the time gap on my profile going to look odd — first upload since 2010 and two games ago! Anyway, this is a nice starter home I whipped up today, specifically a well-shaded mid-century brick bungalow. I'd think it's most suitable for the young Sim out on their own or perhaps a new couple without a baby yet, as there's only one bed and one bath, but at a mere §16,549, it's a steal in this market. And no CC clogging up the drains, either!

This is based on a number of small, mid-century homes that I love a great deal in some of the older neighborhoods near where I live. The home includes very basic furnishings — lighting, walls and floors, and enough to get by with your kitchen and bathroom — but is otherwise empty in order to allow your inner interior decorator freedom to go wild. Just make sure you run everything by the local historic preservation committee.
