Indiana Theater

First opened in November of 1922, this historic theater boasts a lively past. From the beginning, motion pictures were shown here on the largest screen in the state (until the introduction of the IMAX). Vaudeville, stage plays, opera, live comedy and popular musicians also performed here. Among the list of performing greats were; Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, Red Skelton and Dean Martin. Aside from the theater itself, restaurants, boutiques and apartments (originally designated for traveling performers) have been in continuous use. The architectural design was described as being "Spanish Baroque". On opening night, local patros were dazzled by the appearance of live peacocks strutting thru the lobby. I hope you enjoy this lot as it was a labor of love. I worked at the Indiana one summer and learned it history from a fellow employee who had been there since the 1950's and it was where my late husband took me on our first date....
