Did you just start college - and before getting your first assignment, you've already found your soul-mate?
It happens! :lovestruc Thirty-one years later, and we're still happily married!
Yup. That's what happened to me in RL. Hubs and I met at an orientation picnic the day I arrived on campus in 1984. And we were married in our Junior year. Of course, everyone thought we
HAD to get married...
(I remember getting so mad at those evil gossipers) Well! We showed them! Our one-and-only bundle of joy didn't arrive until 2004! Harrumph!
Anyway, whenever the subject of University life comes up, I always think back to our engagement/wedding/first apartment/etc. So, here is a simitized version of our first apartment - it was a
Cardinal Community apartment - anyone remember those? There still around, but under different management, or privately held now.
The brochure went something like this:
Your Very Own Home
Living in a Cardinal Apartment is more like living in your own home than an apartment. With our single story design, there is no noise from above or below. Each apartment is separated by double-wall construction to insure your privacy. Each apartment also comes with your own private fenced-in patio, with your own private entrance and lighted attached parking space. You'll feel like you're miles away in the country, but in reality just minutes away from the University...
Each apartment has "Extra Features"
(see those details on the apartment's individual picture) They include an item for exercise, creativity, and a hobby.
A main feature of the Cardinal Apartments was a see-through built in bookcase unit dividing the kitchen and living rooms. I've done my best to recreate that with a series of shelves. To fill these shelves with personal clutter you'll have to move through their slots by toggling the 'M' key.
Standard, in each apartment, you'll find:
- Basic lighting
- Plumbing - including both a shower and a tub, and medicine cabinets
- Appliances - including fridge, stove, dishwasher, in-wall trash, microwave, coffee maker, and smoke alarms
- Furniture - tables, chairs, a bed, closet, a desk, bookcase, TV, and stereo system
- Plus - an alarm clock, telephone, computer, and curtains
What you won't find are burglar alarms or very many decorative items. I'm sure you'll want to personalize each apartment to suit your needs
Let me introduce you to my collegiate boy - Joe.
Joe Tabetti (follow link to download him). He'll be happy to show you around the common areas of the apartment complex. If you scroll through the above pictures, he'll explain how the cars work too.
We hope you'll enjoy living in our Cardinal Community! Welcome home
