Picture it: The American Midwest, 1954. New homes are built at an aggressive pace to meet fierce demand of growing families. Bursting at the seams in their minimally sized bungalows, people of the time craved something "new" as they built their next home. So it came, the ranch. Inspired by a low, flat building style that came from California, these one story wonders were built to last at the crux of technological advances and old-school techniques. Full of natural materials like wood and stone, often including giant plate-glass windows, their sleek yet warm style has yet to be surpassed. Can you tell I'm a fan?
I haven't uploaded in a while, but I have been eager to share this home for some time. This one is sentimental to me because it is based on my own home. It is not a 100% replica, but it is a fair representation of my home architecturally when it was built in the mid-50s. My real home has a basement that cannot be justly included with the attached garage... my biggest gripe with building homes in TS2.
It includes 3 beds, 1.5 baths, stone wall fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an expansive patio. Lots of landscaping (none too needy, though) and some personal touches with color choice throughout. Included are a handful of paint colors from my
Midcentury Wall Collection and a Maxis carpet recolor that I've never uploaded, but use frequently.
I hope you like my home as much as I do :lovestruc
