CHANGES
2026-02-15: Updated to include the only R&L bucket list goal - Woohoo in Secret Passageway. Real funny, Maxis.

2026-01-24 - Sorry for the wait. Maxis updated most of the progression to be even more aggressive than my mod did, so I'm removing the gain adjustment file, so now this mod is just a balance edit to differentiate bucket list goal rewards based on their difficulty/impact, as I still think woohoo goals do not equate having a child, as well as change how points are rewarded for non-bucket list goals:
  • Maxis made all bucket list goals 2.5 points, so I'm now making harder to complete goals reward 5 points, leave the middle goals at 2.5, and all easy goals to be 1 (aspirations were updated to only reward 1 point after completion, Wants grant 0.1 points now)
  • Changed entirely how Midlife Crisis goals are rewarded, as by default, you get 5 whole points just for passing the crisis, which seems incredibly unfair if you did nothing. With the mod, since the goals can sometimes be inconvenient, I'm giving each OBJECTIVE goal completion 0.75 points. I cannot differentiate the goal difficulty, so I chose a compromise instead.
  • Resolutions from Seasons by default grant 1 point now from vanilla 2.5, as the goals I find them being fairly decent in difficulty (not the skill resolution goal, but for that it's better to just get a slower skill gain mod)
  • Wellness aspirations are now rewarded as normal aspirations 1 point, so yay, I'm not touching that.
  • Included the new Adventure Awaits expansion pack goals.
  • Climb Mountain & Werewolf Adventure goals are fixed.

ABOUT
I wanted a core system that had "lifetime" goals for sims to complete and get rewards. Soul's Journey in Life & Death provided everything but the longevity of the progression. So now I made the rewarded points way lower to try and slow it down (because listening to liked music should not be weighted the same as reaching your home value to 250K)

You can use both mods together as they both do separate things! One mod affects all the bucket list goals, the other affects the gains for other ways of gain. - please read the latest update
  • Bucket list goals DEFAULT: 2.5 for all goals | MODDED: 5 for Hard goals|2.5 Medium Goals|1 for Small Goals
  • Aspiration goals DEFAULT: 1 | MODDED: Unchanged as of Patch 188
  • Want goals DEFAULT: 0.1 | MODDED: Unchanged as of Patch 188
  • Resolutions (Seasons) DEFAULT: 2.5 | MODDED: 1
  • Midlife Crisis (Growing Together) DEFAULT: 5 for just passing the phase | MODDED: 0.5 for each objective completed
Each Soul's Journey tier needs 5 points to pass.

Sims with the Inspiration for the Soul moodlet, Burning Soul trait, Death Perspective trait, and for ghost sims that are on a lot with the Hallowed Ground lot trait will now give far fewer additional points, as you could FIRE through the entire journey in Vanilla.

Seriously, such a needed game-changer. The game is full of ridiculous, meaningless tasks, so having fewer but heavier goals is a breath of fresh air, as it feels rewarding when you get good rewards for harder work input!

NOTES
Please leave feedback if you think some goals are not as rewarding as they should be, as most of the goal-lowering choices were made on estimated length/accessibility in vanilla gameplay, instead of being measured with actual play

If you dislike earning Soul's Journey from Wants, get the mod nowantbasedsoulsjourneyincrease. Aspirations' version conflicts with this mod, sorry.
