Kodiak Trace - Log Home 7 BR with full basement and swimmable lake
Like the big brown bear for which the home is named, Kodiak Trace is LARGE. It has approximately 5400 square feet of living space with a full unfinished basement (ground access from the rear).
The cost is $90,764 Simoleons. While the home is on a raised (5x5) lot, the front, rear and side lot edges are on ground level.
This basement offers an additional 2800 square feet of space. Part could be converted to a garage, swimming pool, disco, dungeon.... hey it is your house! Have at it!
The home is 70% furnished and livable as is and has generous lighting included as well as conservative wall and floor coverings throughout. To blend with the log exterior, you will find wood floors and wood accents throughout also.
COMPATIBILITY:
I used almost 100% Maxis objects in this house (I have the SIMS 2 base game and UNIVERSITY installed). I built the home without "going to the University", but I can't guarantee than I didn't somehow include some UNIVERSITY items.
The Maxis wood and such is nice, but creators and contributors on this site and others can provide you with a world of beautiful custom wood floors, carpets, walls, windows and doors to make this house really spectacular.
NOTE: Since the basement walls are "foundation" and not SIM walls, you would need to use the "Objects On" cheat to add windows and doors to these basement "foundation" walls.
See MikeInside's tutorial on "basements" for tips. thread: Basement Tutorial
I don't have Night Life installed (no car), so I did not attempt to create a three car garage under the great room/entertainment room on the left side of the house. The plans I based this house on actually used the great room area for a three car garage. You will, of course, need to do some landscaping in order to make a more accessible driveway and to convert part of the basement to a garage.
The use of the rest of the basement space will be limited only by your imagination and needs.
SWIMMABLE LAKE:
Kodiak Trace includes a swimmable lake which is both appealing to the eye and beneficial to the entertainment and fitness of your SIMS. However it can carry with it some "funky" side affects
(see Swimmable Lake Illusion) note thread: Swimmable Lake Illusion
My thanks to tkdjunkie for the tutorial.
CUSTOM OBJECTS:
As far as I know, the only custom objects that were used in construction of this home is the custom lake water illusion "ground cover". This is included with the house, but others recolors can be found at this link:
Pond Water Mod
Thanks Targa for these Pond Water recolors.
NEED TO DOWNLOAD THESE AND ADD THEM TO THE HOUSE IN BUILD MODE
My revision of the house was rejected as a duplicate by the moderators
Log Wall Coverings:
The outside log wall coverings by Z_Splat. I didn't use the log corners.
Thread: Log Wall Coverings
Thanks Z_Splat!
DETAILS:
7 bedrooms
3 1/2 bathrooms (1 1/2 baths on main floor. 2 full baths on second floor)
Double office on main floor. One with "turret" style addition on the right side of the house.
Large kitchen area with lots of counter space.
Dining and living room area combined on main floor
Loft area with porch on second floor overlooking living room
Large deck in front and rear as well as a large porch off the second story loft.
Closet and laundry spaces were converted to make to the rooms larger. One long closet/laundry area on second floor.
FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!
I hope you enjoy Kodiak Trace as much as I did making it. This is my first home upload, so your feedback will be greatly
appreciated.
CREDITS:
You more talented folks might do a better job with the roof and other areas. Feel free to modify, but if you want to mention
my name, it would be appreciated too.
SUGGESTIONS:
This might make a great DORM for University players. I plan to convert it one day.
For Night Life owners, adding the three car garage may or may not be your plan, but I tried to leave enough space to allow this option. Have fun!
HOW TO PAY FOR IT:
Unless you have 4th and 5th generation wealthy SIMS, you will probably need to use the "get more money" cheats:
"Kaching" (for an additional $1,000 each time you enter it).
"Motherlode" (for an additional $50,000 each time you enter it).
I never liked using cheats in a game before, but with the relatively short lifespan of our SIMS 2, I wanted mine to live and play
in luxury. Just a personal choice. After all, it is a game. Slugging it out by the rules can be fun too! [WINK][WINK]
THANK YOU:
Thanks to the Mod The Sims2 Site and fellow SIMMERS for all the tutorials and ideas. This was great fun, and I hope to bring more to the table later. Enjoy!

Install Instructions
1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
