It was time to move my Sim family (yet again) and I decided to build something a little different from the usual contemporary/modern style homes I usually throw together. What I had in mind was to build an old Spanish Mission and convert it into a house. This is the result.
It's a fairly basic shape but I've been to quite a few missions and many of them are shaped similarly. To make things a little less square I added a wing for a gym. This turned into more patio space downstairs and gave me a neat little raised walkway off of one of the bedrooms.
Next came the interior work. Being a mission, it had to have a large room that once served as a church. A perfect great room. I added pillars, arches leading to the other rooms, and some more modern touches. Like a bar. Because who wouldn't put a bar in a church...
As an interesting side effect of raising the foundation without enclosing one wing of the house, I managed to create a sunken hallway that leads to the master bedroom and art studio. Rather than changing it, I left it as/is because it was pretty cool.
The finished product is a 5 bedroom/5 bath home that will suit pretty much any need. The back yard is small but I have fit a playground, rocket, monkey bars, and a telescope pretty easily. After playing with it for a while this house has become one I plan to stay in for a long time with my current legacy. I hope you all enjoy it.
