Skendgate c.1348, aka: Shrivendun
Inspired by: Connie Willis' Doomsday Book
...with Manor House, Village area, Church with Bell Tower and Cemetery, Stables and Pond
All together there are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms

~~~ No CC Included! ~~~
But, you will want to have the EA Store: Castle Collection for 3 items.
This build is inspired by the medieval village setting in Doomsday Book, written by Connie Willis, pub. 1992.
Quote:
Despite what textbooks have you believe, history is not only about the columns of dates, the battles, the pivotal events, and the decisions made by those in power. History is about people, and even though everything around them may change over hundreds of years, people remain the same in their essential humanity.
“They’ve all died, she thought, and couldn’t make herself believe it. They’ve all been dead over seven hundred years.”
And that's how Doomsday Book packs such a powerful emotional punch with the sci-fi time travel story turned historical observation turned historical tragedy. Because Connie Willis makes you, the reader, slowly inhabit the world she imagines and come to care about the people she creates.
Skendgate is laid out in 4 main sections:
The Manor House only has accommodations for 2 sims (but more beds can be added, certainly!)
The Village consists of 4 hovels with a communal bathroom and picnic area. One hovel is bigger - it has an en suite bathroom, double bed, and hosts the area's telephone.
The Church has grounds for a cemetery, and there is a decorative headstone/monument in the side yard - but there are no dead buried here... yet.
I couldn't decide if this should be a single family's holding/residence, or to set it as a "SimNation Treasure" museum/community lot, or use it as a "living museum", or working "Dude" ranch hotel/lodging type thing...
Since I don't normally play a medieval-style game, I think I will use it as a community museum/park lot. But, it is currently zoned for residential, so you may either move a sim family in as it is, or rezone it however you want to use it
Please enjoy touring Skendgate by scrolling through the above pictures. If you want to add animals to the lot, I highly recommend Sun and Moon's Barnyard Bash set. And there are tons of medieval items (CC) to be found at Plum Bob Keep that can 'deck out' this lot further.
This lot is furnished, and decorated. All appliances, plumbing and lighting are included. The stove and grill have smoke alarms. A telephone is located in each of the main areas. There is NO burglar alarm on this lot.
This is a clean copy of this house/lot; no sim has ever lived here. The package has been cleaned with Mootilda's Clean Installer.
This is a pet-friendly build. A dog house is included - and there is plenty of space to add more!
Definitely used but NOT included - so, you will need to GO get it:
--- The EA Store: Castle Collection for the small window, floor lamp (candle), and trunk (deco.)
--- I use the Lifestyle Build Bundle wallpapers/floors ALL the time. (If you followed that link, it's the second link in the top post - extracted from Lifestyle Stories by Argon @ MATY) This 'bundle' lives back in my Bins folder so it doesn't have the CC star. If you ever enter one of my builds and find it has blank/unpapered walls/floors, it is because I used ones from this bundle and forgot to mention it. So, either substitute the wall/floor of your choice, or go get this bundle and re-install the lot (from your lot bin.)
--- and you may want to get IngeJones/Simlogical USE INACCESSIBLE BEDS - so two sims can use the double beds that are next to a wall.
There is NO Custom Content Included
Lot Size: Lot-Adjusted 50X60
Lot Price (furnished): $201,793
Standard mods I use that are not necessary, nor included - but were probably used whilst building/photo-ing/prepping this house for upload...
I use Deastrumquodvicis' Roof Shader for brighter roofs
And, HW/Honeywell's A Little Greyer: Roof Trim Defaults
Maranatah's White Wall Top texture replacement
Moo's Turn On/Off Lights
Menaceman's Lunatech Lighting Fix
BeosBoxBoy's no-red-pause-mod
Nopke's Go Under Spiral Stairs mod for proper spiral stair usage
Gunmod's Radience Lighting System, which is installed with the Scriptorium (which is necessary for installing CC stairs.)
HugeLunatic's Sweet Down Low Tweaked + for the ability to shift things up/down on a wall without darkening the item!
And, I highly recommend using gummilutt's Invisible Medicine Cabinet to add features to any mirror.
And, of course, everyone needs Numenor's CEP and SEP!
NOTE: Sweet Down Low Tweaked + sometimes causes pictures, curtains, shelves, and ceiling lights to 'jump' out of place when you first install a lot. You can click the item to put it back in place. The 'jumping' is a side-effect of the mod. It won't affect your game at all (other than the inconvenience of things being initially out of place *sigh*)
