Made for M&G (or UC). This allows more sims to read books for fun like they do in base game, besides some features regarding other interactions. bookcase
- Motive advertisement is not that much higher than the original game so it doesn't become an annoyance, but I made that sims with hobby get higher advertisement and the more enthusiasm they have, but even so don't expect behaviour like in the sims 3 in which everyone seems like an avid reader.
- reading is on average less attractive to kids and pleasure sims -especially playful ones- and as I said more attractive to One true hobbiers in literature; everyone else falls in between.
- sims with a predestined hobby in literature or +4 level of enthusiasm will actually top their fun need -otherwise they stop at around 85% like they do by default-; moreover a +4 level of enthusiasm unlocks a slight boost in the fun gain rate, and a predestined hobby with a level +6 unlocks a great boost, about twice as fast.
- Hygiene/hunger DROP and social GAIN rate from sci-fi, cooking and romance books respectively have been reduced by half since they were too detrimental, and their maximum gain or drop have been capped:
hunger drain stops at 15%, hygiene drain stops at 30% and social gain at 85% of full bar, roughly.
- visitors are allowed to read as well in public libraries.
- in university dormitories, unselectable students should not be researching or studying when your sim throws a party so they hopefully do something fun like dancing or hanging out. Extremely shy ones (zero points) are exempt from this rule
so they may still choose books in said scenarios.
- this has nothing to do with bookcases anyway, but university assignments get the same rules above for the same reason.
- novels will not serve for university research nor the study of skill.
- the advertisement values for Research has been lowered, except on community areas. This means that your roommates might be less likely to form big research groups in dormitories but will be more accesible to chat or do other things; so, if you want to get the bonus from joining big research groups go to the campus library, which keeps the default values.
- everyone and especially neat/serious sims are more likely to put away books, visitors only in commlots; dormies will also be able put away books in dorms provided they live in there.
- write in diary slightly less attractive to elder and adult; sims won't hide their diary to trusty ones just like in unmodded game but now also babies, toddlers and NPC that aren't human such as Remote control car.
- autonomous write in diary in commlots is prevented.
- sims will consider the surroindings before start writing in diary, they won't be bothered by other sims when doing it and they will decide sooner whether to quit or not when there are untrusty sims nearby: it takes half the time now.
Very outgoing simms (+8 pts) will never feel shy about their own diary to anyone, they can even start the activity in a room full of strangers.
- Added some motive checks to balance the Ask to be Read interaction so children and toddlers will perform this less often. Adults to them same thing, for instance, they don't automously read to kids who are starving or about to pee themselves, and mostly nice sims will autonomously read to kids in the first place.
- they will wait a bit longer when trying to read to a child/toddler before giving up, and the interaction has a higher priority so hopefully doesn't fail like it usually does.
Conflicting mods:
- Dizzy's exit-skill-hack1b: by its own produces adhd issues with "Research" in university community lots.
- CancelDiary by CJ (this feature is included in my mod)
- Stinky Dormies & Assignments Fix by twojeffs. (the stinky part fix is addressed but the rate for the assignments is compensated so should be about the same as default)
- No Auto Read to Me by CJ: in my mod there are some measures to make these interactions less constant and somewhat more balanced but if you still prefer disabling them altogether you can still use this Cj's mod, just make sure it loads after.
Recommended mods:
- diary covers reenabled by midgethetree: reenables diary covers.
- Diary Pen Fix by Menaceman44: fixes diary pen.
