Well, it's currently March of 2024 and I've finally decided to go ahead and upload a lot I've built in May 2018... How has it been 6 years already?! I was halfway through high school back then and I'm so close to getting my master's now, it almost seems like I built this in another life. But onto the important stuff now. I decided to upload it (and painfully go through way too much CC) after a thread on r/sims2 ranking the lot bin houses placed Modern Masterpiece in its own tier at the bottom. I just couldn't take any Modern Masterpiece slander, I've always loved that orange-ish Maxis lot in the lot bin with the weird roofs and lots of light, so I wanted to give it a makeover to explore all that untapped potential it had. I wish I could give you more info on what went through my mind while I was building this, but, as I mentioned, it was 2018, who knows what my thought process was back then. What I do know is that I wanted to keep the same feel to it - lots of light, wood and verticality. It's not a "pure" makeover if you will, I did slightly alter the shell by pushing back the entrance by a tile and making the back protrude by 2 tiles. As for the floorplan, it was rebuilt entirely from scratch.

I remember starting out with the idea of replacing those massive windows with skylights. A pretty CFE-heavy phase of my life, 2018 was, and the first room I decorated was the kitchen. A big glass roof lets in the natural light to shine over the muted earth tones inside, with a splash of colour from the varied plants and vases present. An archway keeps the kitchen flowing into the larger living area.

The main entrance and living area present more wood tones with greenery bringing life into a spacious environment, while large floor-to-ceiling mirrors make it seem even more spacious. Large planters function as fake walls to separate the main hallway from the de facto living room. Open underneath stairs lead the way to the top floor, where you can find the only bedroom in this house.

The Carina SpotLight Modular Stairs made by Numenor require special installation procedures explained in the download page, so they are not included. Some other pieces of CC did not package with the lot, namely the rugs (which are recolours of the Sung-Gyu Sunburst Oriental Rug), a recolour of the Here and There Thing table and the frame recolours of the Holy Simoly curtains. Finally, some included CC is slaved to items not used in the lot, so be sure to get them as well. Every required but not included item should be properly linked.

Enjoy!
