Background
Vampires in Sims 2 are more a handicap than a boon. At night, their motives remain static and do not decay, which can be a detriment as there will be few incentives once their motives are fulfilled. By day, their motives plummet, and plummet hard. It matters not much whether they are outside or inside - outside, dead; inside, bound to the coffins for 11 hours...

This mod grants Vampires more freedom in the daytime, provided they remain sheltered from the Sun. By rebalancing how their motive decay rates are, their motives no longer drop quickly while staying inside. Moreover, the nighttime decay rates vary by both ages and personality - active Sims regain more Energy; nicer Sims lose more Social. This is to give incentive for Vampires to explore and interact more at night, as oppose to realizing the exploitability of static motives and the constraints of the old.

Additionally, this mod incorporates a feature from Season - weather. Rain, hail and snow can all shield the Vampires from the Sun. PlantSim and Servo Vampires by default benefit from their conflicting nature, and they will regain Power\Sunshine when exposed!

Features
  • More comfortable motive decay rates during daytime, while staying inside.
  • Weather Matters: cloudy weather, such as rain or snow, blocks sunlight and allows Vampires to enjoy the daytime indoor rates instead!
  • Less deadly sunlight in general, giving more time to find shelter
  • Motive decays or gains during nighttime, as oppose to total static of the original. Motive decay rates also vary by age and personality.
  • For example, at night, active Vampires regain more Energy while nice Vampires lose more Social. Elders regaining Energy noticeably faster than teens, while losing less Social.
  • Elders are less comfortable, pun intended, during daytime than biologically younger Vampires.
  • Nice Vampires crave social interaction, while shy Vampires are more repressed and get hungry quicker.
  • Decay rates variation applies to even while exposed to the Sun! Nice Vampires are just more sentimental!
  • Vampire Servos and PlantSims regain Power\Sunlight instead of losing them when exposed to the Sun.
  • They still hate the Sun and will lose Social\Love quickly, though.
  • Sunlight is still dangerous to PlantSims anyway as their Water will be drained all the same.
Decay rates are defined in the single BCON, which while there are a lot of lines, is much easier to customization. Specific decay rates and how they vary by personality are found in the attached spreadsheet.

Options
There are 3 versions of VampireMotives files in the .zip. They merely have different Boolean settings in the BCON. Use only 1 of them.

SubAgeCheck_MiddleAgedAdult.package should be kept if you use the _MiddleAgedVampires file, or decide to customize the mod.

Issues
Vampires who are currently performing interactions will not have their decay rates updated until they are finished or interrupted. For example, when night falls, a Vampire who has been writing a novel will continue to have the daytime rates. Only by canceling the interaction, or the novel is done, will said Vampire start benefitting from the nighttime rates.
