Chanoyu - A Japanese Tea House
Chanoyu (or chado as the characters show in the picture below) means "the way of tea" in Japanese. The art of the tea ceremony is a Zen buddhist practice that is thought by many to bring together the all cultural aspects that are seen as distinctly Japanese. These aspects include the art of tea, the architecture of the tea house, the art of calligraphy, ikebana the art of flower arranging, and meditation to name a few. Traditionally, a zen buddhist tea house mixes elements of the old and the new in order to stress the unpredictability and temporality of life. Windows and walls are asymmetrical and do not line up in ways usually seen as "perfect" in architecture. This is to keep the eye from knowing exactly what will happen next.
Learn more about the Japanese Tea Ceremony
.jpg)
While this tea house is not exactly traditional, I have tried to keep as many of the traditions I could in a Sims context. There are some subtle Shinto aspects as well (the Maxis-provided V's on top are reminiscent of Ise Shrine . The main house is the tea house and the smaller house is the unisex restroom. There is a lake, a small shrine and a garden to rake. There is also a second story on the tea house, which is empty so I did not provide an image for it. There is accidentally a dresser inside the tea room, please change this to a dressing room so you can have your sims change into their kimonos before they start the tea ceremony. I used the BV tea table because it allows sims to sit on cushions on the floor, though it is not accurately the way the tea ceremony would be performed in the taoist/zen Buddhist tradition.

Install Instructions
1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

About Me
Just don't upload creations as your own, or on other sites, especially the exchange. If you must use something I created on a free site, credit me and link back to here. If you use something I created in a movie or story, credit is appreciated but not necessary. However, I would especially love a link to post here so that I can see the different ways people use things.
Constructive criticism is always accepted, but please keep in mind that I, like everyone else, have feelings, so try not to be unnecessarily cruel or rude.
