Once again I have been inspired by silly television shows, though this time my inspiration comes from an odd program called "Bodacious Houses". Though for the most part these houses were either silly or just not feasible in the Sims, one caught my ear- it was a farmhouse that had been renovated to be incredibly modern inside, and included an indoor, coverable lap pool. I liked the idea, so I decided to experiment a bit and see what I could come up with. This is my result.

My original plan involved four goals: An indoor lap pool, a sunken living room, a loft-styled interior (including an incredibly high ceiling for the living room) and the whole farmhouse/modern motif. I managed everything but the sunken living room, which wasn't working for me and made the whole layout weird. The front door leads into the living room, which is decorated with black leather and maple wood furniture. The room is split by the indoor lap pool, which can be crossed by bridge to the dining area or around the front of the house to the kitchen.

The kitchen is broken up into what is essentially a preparatory corner and a cooking bar. The dining room has a table for traditional eating and a bar that overlooks the lap pool and living room. The full bathroom is accessed through this area, as well as the stairs leading to the master bedroom.

The master bedroom overlooks the living room, and includes a chess board and easel. A recessed area operates as a study, including a laptop and a stereo system. The bedroom has its own full bathroom attached.

Some random notes about the building of the house- originally the floor plan was mirrored to what it is now. The deck was located in the same place, which allowed me to place the windows with ease despite having a sunken living room run all the way up to the walls. But the sunken living room wouldn't light up correctly upon playtesting, and for whatever reason the game considered the room unfinished, which meant every Sim would get a -10 moodlet just from hanging out in it. I decided then to not have a sunken living room, which allowed me to mirror the whole interior (which solved the oddity of having the front door lead into the dining room).

I did my best to incorporate no custom or store content into the house, but the house does require both WA and HELS.

I'm going to stay away from loft-styled, modern housing for my next project. I have a tendency for open spaces and modern furniture, and it'll be good for me to branch out a bit more.
