Up-Country Classic

I'm very pleased to present my latest house! Both tasteful and charming, it's rustic and country without being hokey or stereotypical. A bit like Grandma's house maybe?

The garden is a lovely, lush space for enjoying morning tea or catching fireflies after dark. Intimate yet playful.

This is another house that was featured in Elegant Homes Magazine (Fall, 2005). The house was modeled after a converted carriage house but is of modern construction (note the false carriage door in the den). I've included photos from the original magazine though they are camera phone quality. The actual house is located in Upstate New York.


The house has a harmonious feel throughout. A few quaint touches make the house feel like a home.
The roof gave me quite a bit of trouble but I've tried my best to recreate the original as best as the game allows. There is a funny bit above the garage but everything else worked out pretty well. The second floor is set in an attic-like space so the exterior walls are shorter than normal wall height. I've play-tested it and haven't found any effect on functionality. Aesthetically they have their moments This did cause me to have to use quite a few special windows (see below) and they are absolutely required. There is also a multilevel staircase which caused me to change the layout on the 2nd floor. The computer room, unfortunately, lost some square footage. It's a tradeoff I'm willing to accept.


This is one of the houses I'm most pleased with. It is organic and flows naturally from one space to the next. I had a great time making it and I truly hope you enjoy it!
