Two years have passed. Sno and Charming’s love steadily blossoms. Selena learns to walk and talk. The kingdom is at peace. Regina appears happy, raising Selena has softened her heart. Then on the day after Sno’s eighteenth birthday, everything changes.
“I can’t let you do it!” Esther yells loudly in the main hall.
“Keep your voice down, peasant! You dare presume to tell me what I can or cannot do? I will be performing a service to the kingdom.” Regina spits out, anger evident in her voice. “She isn’t fit to rule. She should never have been ordained. If you dare tell anyone, I’ll make sure you’re the next to go.” she promises, pointing a long finger at Esther.
With her threat hanging in the air, she pushes past Esther. Esther stands contemplating what the Queen had said. Memories flood her mind: Sno wrapped as a babe…handing the new child to the King…of the first Lady Daynes, Sno’s Mother. Esther recalls the King taking her in as a teenager. Shortly after her own mother had passed away, he had given her work and a place to live.
“I cannot sit idly by and watch this happen.” she resolves to herself, and sets out in search for the King.
Esther finds him, entertaining guests in the dining hall.
“Your Majesty, my deepest apologies, but I need to speak with you immediately.” she says quietly, bowing her head.
The King, noting the worried expression on her face, sets down his goblet and stands. He joins her a short distance from the table.
“I’m sorry again Sire. but I have urgent news. The Queen is plotting an evil against Princess Sno. She has a plan to make it so Sno shall sleep forever. I am grieved to bring this news to you because I am loyal to my Queen, but this is a great evil she has perpetrated, and I cannot not sit idly by and watch it happen.” Esther frantically gasps.
“Esther, dear. How have you come upon this information? By what means has this troubling matter come to involve you?” The King asks worried. “Surely you have misheard, My Queen would surely not hurt the Princess?”
Esther stares at him in shock. “You don’t believe me?” she asks shaken. She had been so sure that the King would listen and trust her word.
The King smiles, a distant look in his eye. “Sweet Esther, thank you for bringing this knowledge to me. I shall get to the bottom of this egregious misunderstanding. Please return to your duties.
Esther bows her head and leaves his presence. The King holds his smile until she is out of his presence, then he takes leave of his guests and hurries to the highest tower. There he finds his most trusted messenger.
“Make haste and send a message to Prince Charming White, our dear Princess is in grave danger! Going by Horseback will take far too long…I know not how much time we have. Please use the fastest Pigeon we have. Tell no one what I have entrusted of you”
