In 1954 the Caliente Paper Mill was the economic hub of the small desert town of Carsim and it was hoped that the mill would draw more money & people into the town. Caliente, who was also mayor at the time had big plans for the town, a railway was built and for a short while life was good. Sadly Flamenco Caliente's dreams of a son who would take over his empire was never realised - and his two air-headed daughters refused to live in the one horse town - soon after high school the two moved away.

It was then that hard times fell on Carsim - the mill was sold by the Caliente sisters after the untimely death of their father. With high unemployment many residents were forced to move away in search of a better life. Malcolm Landgrab III (yeah, you know the family...) snapped up most of the real estate at dirt cheap prices. For many years most of the homes stood empty and many homes were vandalised. Now it's 2008, and in this tough economic climate, Landgrab's progeny has made a minimal investment to upgrade this buildings interior - sadly he was too cheap to clean up the exterior, claiming that it was the local councils responsiblity as the railway lines were directly to blame for the many vagrants.

The old apartment block, although in a poor condition is still structurally sound. It has 4 units. Unit 1 with a single bedroom is suitable for a bachelor or newly married couple. Unit 2 has 2 bedrooms and is suitable for a young family or a retired couple. Unit 3 is a family sized unit with 3 bedrooms. Unit 4 is a tiny rooftop loft. I have heard stories that the famous artist Dreamer-something ot the other once lived there. Of course, if memory serves me, the only painting that fella did back then was picket fences and old houses...

Not all Sims can live afford to live the life of luxury.
Perhaps your down and out sim will feel at home living On The Wrong Side Of The Tracks...

When moving your sims in, the apartments will each feature only the basic fixtures - yep, the landlord was that cheap... but note that the lot was packaged fully furnished (Maxis only furnishings).
