Funny how the things I finish are never the things that I start out to finish first... I mean... I sat down to write a script this morning and I ended up with this.
This small package is a default replacement for the maxis textures for the 'Casual' dudes hair. It's such a classy mesh shape, but it was losing favor with my male sims with it's plastic-ish texture.
Tis not a massive edit. And I couldn't get a lot of detail out of it. Maxis maps the textures funny so it all comes out blurry. (Seriously, there's room in those files for a 30% increase in texture size :/ )
Pretty much, I felt like scribbling some hair this morning to warm up for some painting. So I did. There's a lot more contrast, the highlights pop, the shadows sink. It looks generally less like a lump of colored clay.
The colors are perfect maxis match.
There are like... a hundred pixels changed on the alpha too. It's no big thing, but the flyaway hairs are a bit more feathered and natural.
Go me! I learned about txtr files! I feel smart.
I'm not making non-defaults, because the change is so minimal there's no reason to have both in game.
CC in pictures:
Ed. A work in progress by me. With a lot of other junk by me. Some fuzzies, some ears, some brows, some shading stuff. Only the facial fuzz is uploaded at this time.
My eyes of choice by Aneh: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=323426
Idolatry of the Twitch, by Twitchhugstrees, with edits by me.
Don't steal textures, don't repost elsewhere, yadda yadda be a good person and eat your broccoli. If you want to chop up the textures, let me know. I'm down with sharing pixels.
Cheers.

About Me
Apparently I've been modding since 2008. Wow. I was 18. Time, huh?
While some of my stuff is here, most of my things can be found on Garden of Shadows or on my Livejournal (which I almost don't even want to link to, because past-self is embarrassing, but it's not like I'm an unknown creator anyways...) .
Also, check out my paintings and graphic novel at yourfaceispretty.com.
POLICY:
Use my sims work for whatever. Always credit. Keep it free.
And drop me a linky, because I want to see what cool stuff you've made. <3
