Shadowgates Victorian Gothic
There is a story about Shadowgates, though. An old story well worth telling. The house was originally built as a vicarage for the local minister. A lovely woman she was, bright and charitable like a woman of faith ought to be. Well-travelled and educated, too. Then something happened to change her. She came back from one of her journeys with a strange aura of mystery around her. There were rumours about her going a little soft in the head or just simply losing her conviction, maybe even turning to some pagan gods.
Whatever the case, it was back then that Shadowgates got it's name. It was a strage thing for a vicar to start decorating the house with such grim and dark colours. Even stranger to cover the windows with heavy drapes made of velvet and silk – almost like she wished to block out the sun completely. By that time she had also grown unusually pale with a fierce, daunting pair of black eyes burning in her marble face.
The parishers did no longer dare to face her but fled in fear. She left her place as a minister soon afterwards. They let her keep the house since nobody was brave or foolish enough to demand it back. A new vicarage was build, one with warm and inviting colours. The former vicar was rarely seen or even heard of, but there was persistent gossip about strange disappearings around Shadowgates. The woman had become a shadow herself, a creature of the night and dim moonlight.
And now, after several generations of various owners, she is just one of Shadowgates' many memories. A distant whisper in the midnight wind, a half forgotten bedtime story to scare the village children with.
Shadowgates is another one of my attempts in trying to create a truly gloomy Victorian Gothic mansion. The house is dark and may not be fit for Sims who prefer light and sunshine. But for Sims with devious interests and wicked hearts it might just be the place to call home!
The house has four floors and enough beds for six adult sims and a baby. (There are no vampires in Sims 3 but this house was obviously built with our fanged friends in mind.)
1st floor: Entrance hall, kitchen, living room, bathroom
2nd floor: Master bedroom, children's bedroom, nursery, bathroom, hallway
Attic: Study, bathroom
Cellar: Nectary, storage and guest room (or the vampire lair..)
Price furnished: § 263 848
Price unfurnished: § 131 622
Author's Note: Once again, I have used mostly store stuff with this lot. I apologize the inconvenience it may cause many. The house, like all my houses, is built for my Sims and completely to my own, personal preferences.
This time I used also third party custom content. The only one I really recommend are the VICTORIAN PATTERNS by robokitty. Others are just decorative and not needed for the lot to work. There is also a magical water pump by silverfox - but that's just because I don't like the EA sprinklers.
A hearty thank you to everyone looking or downloading. And a huge thank you to all you wonderful creators making beautiful CC for us to use.

Install Instructions
1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
2. Select the .sims3pack file you got from extracting.
3. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
5. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Select the house icon, find the lot in the list, and tick the box next to it. Then press the Install button below the list.
6. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the lot to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
7. Run the game, and find your lot in Edit Town, in the premade lots bin.
Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.
