Marie Laveau was born on September 10, 1797 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She's a creole mulatto, e.g., born of African American and Caucasian decent. In the early to mid nineteenth century, she made her name as the most powerful and famous Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. By day she was a hair dresser for the wealthy ladies of the french quarter, and by night she performed sacred rituals for her clients. Despite her practices which sometimes lead to mischief, Marie was devoutly Catholic and had true compassion for the poor and less fortunate. She encouraged all of her followers to attend Catholic mass and to be charitable to their community. Some respect Marie so much that they have pushed to have her named a Catholic saint.

If you didn't know, I'm from New Orleans and Marie Laveau is a common name around here. She has many taverns and shops in her honor, and her French Quarter apartment still stands as a historical landmark. I've visited her tomb several times and have always been interested in her. When I saw the turban hairstyle on MS3B I just *had* to make this sim!

There's only one historically excepted portrait of her, and it's what her sim is based off of.
The Voodoo Queen
When making this sim, I couldn't quite find a lipstick that fit with her look, so I created my own. It's a three channeled lipstick called Voodoo Queen. It's available for teen-elder and has it's own custom thumbnail in CAS for easy identification.

Install Instructions
1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the sim to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.
2. Select the .sim file you got from extracting.
3. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game, enter Create-a-Sim, and save a sim to the sim bin to create this folder, rather than doing so manually. After that you can close the game and put the .sim file in SavedSims
4. Once the .sim file is in SavedSims, you can load the game, and look for your sim in the premade sims bin in Create-a-Sim.
Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.
