I like Dungeness because when you think of England, you don't think of deserts, but surprisingly, it does have a desert; Dungeness, on the coast of Kent. Prospect Cottage is very popular with artists, which is very understandable when you see its setting and its garden. it's also one of the few cottages there that wasn't originally an old railway carraige. After recreating the cottage from 'Safe & Sound' I found I enjoy creating smaller homes, and Prospect Cottage is one that I have always been fond of, ever since I first layed eyes on it. This lot was also partly inspired by triciamanly who created a wonderful looking lot you can find here that was inspired by the better known view of Kent as 'The Garden of England'. So I'm dedicating this unusual slice of England to her and all the effort she has put into her uploads over the years.

If you'd like to see more pictures of the real Prospect Cottage and Dungeness, please see my post over at the Historic Homes Society or my posts over on Tumblr; Dungeness and
Prospect Cottage

Given the size of the house in real life I've tried to keep my recreation to a modest size, I was tempted to put it on a larger lot so that I could capture more of the essence of the garden, but instead I've decided to keep the lot to a more compact size so that you aren't as resticted when it comes to placing the lot in your games.

Lot Info.
This house was built on a 30 by 30 lot costing 67, 939 Simoleons furnished and 39,998 Simoleons unfurnished.
Given how popular the real house is with artists and that it is/was owned by an artist, I imagine that the interior of it is rather bohemian and completely out of touch with the historic nature of the house and so I have reimagined the interior taking into account the modernised spaces that would be found in newer extension in the former shed to the side of the house. In there and in the newer kitchen wing at the back of the original cottage I've gone for a more modern finish, while keeping the older parts of the house darker and more historic. Then there's the attic which I remember seeing somewhere that it is used as an art studio and so I've left it rather empty in my recreation, but I've put a bathroom and a bed up there as it is only accessed via the outside staircase and so you could use it as a guest bedroom or a seperate art studio as it is in the real house.

I hope you will all enjoy this little, rather unusual slice of England that isn't terribly well-known. I've rather enjoyed creating yet another modest sized home and so I'll probably create another some time soon. But first I have another grander, more famous and historic coastal home I am currently recreating
