Tired of that depressing blue abyss you see every time your game first loads? I was too.



Do NOT put this mod in your downloads folder. Please read the installation instructions.

I originally designed a mod like this back in 2013, however, with no support for anything more than essentially a 720p monitor, it was time to lay it to rest. With monitor sizes increasing and The Sims 2 inevitably aging, I decided it was time to once again help create a better-looking game in a subtle, but appealing way.



From now on, you will see a larger image of the classic Sims 2 neighborhood in the background as your game loads, rather than the dark blue backdrop that was there before if you played in any HD resolution. It comes in 3 flavors, each slightly adjusted to look good depending on your display resolution.

Please note, any of the 3 can be used to your liking if you prefer one look over another, but you must use only one file at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: My game doesn't go any higher than 800x600! What do?
A: Your graphics processor isn't being recognized by the game. SimsNetwork has a great tool to help fix that here.

Q: How do I even play the game at more than 1080p anyway? It doesn’t allow it.
A: SimsVIP has a great guide for that here. You can skip step 3 if you’ve already used the tool that was linked directly above this.

Q: I like the look of the 1440p/4k flavor better but my game resolution is only set to 1080p, can I still use it?
A: Yes!

Q: This is interesting, I guess...but why?
A: Why not? IMO, anything to help keep an aging game looking pretty should be welcomed.
