Updated: 11th Dec 2020 at 12:45 AM - UPDATE 1
UPDATE 1: This update adds new features. I also released a new add-on called PaintingDrawingMod-AddOn-BePaintedRel. Scroll down below to read the description for that mod.
- When Sim A is painting the portrait of Sim B, if Sim B wanders away from the easel, Sim A will stop painting. Maxis forgot to add this check. Sims are not supposed to be able to continue painting a portrait if Sim B is not engaged in the Be Painted interaction on the easel.
- Painted portraits now remember whose portrait they are. When a sim views a painted portrait, they will always react negatively if they are furious at or enemies with the painted sim, and will always react positively if they are family-related, or have a crush/love or are married/engaged/steady with the painted sim. Portraits that had already been painted before this update won't be affected.

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION

There are some problems with easel paintings and drafting board drawings in Sims 2. This mod fixes them:

- Whenever a painting is started, the easel is supposed to save the painter's Creativity skill. The painter's Creativity skill is then saved to the finished painting, because it is used to determine how much the painting appreciates every once in a while. However, Maxis made a mistake which makes it so that at certain times the game is unable to save the painter's Creativity skill. In addition, the game sometimes re-saves the painter's Creativity skill if the painter stops and then continues painting, which should also not happen, because the game should only save the sim's Creativity skill when the painter starts painting a canvas for the first time. This entire thing is fixed.
- When a sim performs the View interaction on a painting/drawing, if the sim dislikes the item, and if the painter of the item is in the same room, the game is supposed to make the painter react to this dislike. However, the game always checks the painter's Object ID, instead of Neighbour ID. This is why if a painting is bought on an OFB lot or gifted to another household, and then placed on a new lot, whenever a sim views the painting, and if the painter happens to be in the same room, the painter is unable to react. Additionally, this also makes it possible for the game to consider random sims as the painter of the item when determining who reacts. This entire thing is a result of the fact that paintings could not be moved from lot to lot in base game, but you can move items from lot to lot very easily with all expansion packs. This is fixed. Now, sims are always able to remember their own paintings.
- Whenever a sim performs the View interaction on a painting/drawing, the animations look like the sim is being reset every second, making the interaction look very unnatural. This is also fixed.

NOTE: This mod does not affect custom easel canvases and custom drafting board drawings. You will have to replace the resources of the custom object with the same resources that are in this mod.

ADD-ONS:
PaintingDrawingMod-AddOn-BePaintedRel: This mod fixes a potential issue which sometimes prevents the game from properly animating sims whose portrait is currently being painted. In addition, it makes it so that when Sim A finishes painting a portrait of Sim B and when the game pushes Sim B to cheer at the finished painting, the game will increase Sim B's relationship towards Sim A. This add-on comes in two versions. The only difference is that the Crush Version makes it so that if Sim B is attraction-capable towards Sim A, then Sim B may get a crush/love towards Sim A if Sim B's STR/LTR happens to be 70 or higher. The chance depends on the painter's Creativity skill and Sim B's Arts and Crafts enthusiasm. If you have my Romantic Standards mod, then sims will also need to pass the checks of that mod to have a chance to get a crush/love.
UPDATE 1: I just found out that Maxis didn't add any motive checks to the Be Painted interaction that sims are engaged in while their portrait is being painted, meaning that they can die from hunger while posing. This update fixes that.

View Painting Route Mod: This mod fixes an annoying issue with viewing paintings and sculptures. If the game considers the object to be unreachable, the game makes the sim throw a route failure tantrum and prevents the sim from viewing the object. The problem is that the game considers objects unreachable if there is another object in front of it, if the object is surrounded by a fence and so on. This mod makes it so that sims should be able to view such objects as long as they are able to route somewhat close to the object and have a clear line of sight towards the object.

You need the latest version of 7zip or WinRAR to get this mod.

Requirements: Freetime.
