Overview
This little mod gives you a way to improve at poker and work on your skills, rather than relying solely on luck.

Updates
October 2026: added logic, thought balloons, reduced skill requirements a little

It adds these things:
  • creative sims have a chance to cheat at poker to fake a better hand, unless they're nice (5+ creativity, up to 4 niceness), the higher the skill, the higher the chance;
  • charismatic sims may have other sims buy into their bluff and act in their interest: either fold when they really have better cards than the bluffer, or keep betting when they really should fold early (3+ charisma is the minimum to try to bluff);
  • for bluff to have a chance at success, bluffer's charisma has to be higher than victim's charisma or higher than their logic, even better if both;
  • charismatic sims are more inclined to stay in game with bad cards to try and fool everyone else into folding, and they also use their logic skill to see if they really should stay in game (with logic 3+ they can deduce that someone has great cards on their hands and may fold instead of trying to bluff with crappy cards);
  • thought balloons are shown when sims cheat using their creativity or being fooled by someone's charisma (see pics).
The changes are subtle, and high skills do not guarantee winning, because who'd want to play with sims who always win? By the way, there is someone who always wins -- Unsavory Charlatan

Requirements
Night Life + any one pack from Bon Voyage and later.
I'm not sure if stuff packs count, but if you have BV, FT, AL or Super/Ultimate Collection, you're good.

The mod may conflict with other mods that override the same resources:

Known Issues
Even without mods, I noticed that poker game has issues -- sometimes sims would get stuck in a loop of shuffling cards or endless idling. Players have to get up from the table to break the cycle and start fresh. The code is quite complex, and I haven't been able to fix it.
