Description
Where is part 1? Readiness issue, I need to make my final vacation hood first, so that's going to be in late March 2026!

This is part of my Better Bon Voyage mod that will enhance some aspects of vacationing. Part 2 covers digging up objects, and in the future, combing the beach.

This part rebalances digging by adding a greater range of decorative objects, provided most expansion packs are installed, whose likelihood depends on the vacation subhood type. Digging up on a non-vacation lot has been nerfed to not yield more valuable objects, , so as to encourage digging on vacation. Aspiration level influences the results, though they are still predominantly randomly chosen.

Other changes are digging speed that scales with the Cleaning skill and a monetary fine upon bursting the water pipe.

Features
Technically there is no core file and the modules can be used separately.

_Results
Effectively the main module; all expansion packs up to Free Time are required.
General Changes
  • "Dig" interaction now yields a far greater variety of decorative objects.
  • Objects dug up vary by their monetary values.
  • Objects dug up also vary by their sub-neighborhood type, some having more chance to be found on, but never exclusive to, a particular destination type.
  • For example, a sumo mask is more likely to be found on a far east destination type than a mountain one.
  • Secret maps and treasure chests are exclusive to a vacation lot.
  • Digging dug up an object costing 3,000+ Simoleans will fulfill the "Dug up a treasure chest" memento.

More Restriction
  • Restriction on finding secret maps, treasure chests, and high value objects in a non-vacation lot
  • On residential lots, only low value objects can be found.
  • On community lots, medium value objects may be found, but low value ones are far more likely.
  • This will restrain the "rag-to-rich" scenario depending on getting money by digging up treasure chests, as most objects dug up will now value hardly more than 500 - still doable, but appropriately more efforts are needed.

Aspiration Factor
  • Result of a dig remains random, but otherwise influenced by the Aspiration level.
  • Higher Aspiration level allows more and more valuable objects to be found, but quite rarely.
  • Platinum will find objects of some value far more than rocks and bones.
  • Low green can expect naught but rocks and bones.
  • Red should be panicking about burst water pipes.
  • The chance of bursting the water pipe increases every time it is dug up after the first, so as to balance out the less time needed for an already dug hole.

_Speed
Pets is required.
  • "Dig" and "Fill In" interactions are quickened by high Cleaning skill.
  • Both interactions are slower at no Cleaning skill to compensate.
  • At 10 points, digging speed is 60% faster than default.
  • From the 2nd least useful skill...to a moneymaker!
  • "Dig" and "Fill In" interactions build the Cleaning skill and Nature enthusiasm. "Fill In" does more so for Cleaning.
  • "Dig" is more fun for sloppy Sims, while "Fill In" is more fun for neat Sims.
  • Both interactions drains Comfort and especially Hygiene.

_Digging_WaterFines
  • Bursting the water pipe after a dig will result in a fine if done anywhere but a residential lot, excluding apartment and dormitory, or a business owned by the household.
  • The fine starts at 100 Simoleons, and will grow to 500 if the burst pipe has not been filled in.
  • The fine will continue to grow by 250 Simoleons for each burst pipe still not filled in - 750 at 3 pipes; 1,000 at 4 pipes, etc.
  • Sims will get the "Got Fined" Memory after a fine of 1,000+ Simoleons.
  • Though intended as a fine for burdening the hotel maid, they will gladly fill in the holes and make big fines less likely.

Issues
Texts for discovering highly valuable objects (3,000+ and fulfilling the treasure chest memento) will be incorrect if you use the _Results module but not _Digging_WaterFines. They have no bearing on the gameplay, however.

Please report any other bugs in the comment section.
