Yet again, another case of "what was Maxis thinking?!" Pet eye textures are combined with fur textures, in this ridiculously small area that could EASILY have been mapped bigger. Therefore, making nice-looking eye textures that aren't blurry is next to impossible. However, after several tries and some horrid first starts, I've got a set of eyes that I'm liking a lot and I think are a lot more realistic than the cheap plastic stuffed animal eyes they shoved in the heads of our otherwise pretty pets. They're not perfect, but I think they're a definite improvement.

Textures are for cats and dogs only... I haven't really noticed bird or womrat eyes being wonky.

I tried to make the colours close to the originals so the thumbnails would match, but a bit more useful range of shades.

These are DEFAULT REPLACEMENTS. When you put my .package file in your Downloads folder, my textures will show on all your pets - new and already-created, in every household. If you take my .package file out of your Downloads folder, you will have the Maxis defaults. These override, not overwrite. You can only have ONE default replacement pack at a time, so if you see a set by someone else (or if I make another later) that you like you should remove any previous default replacement packs before putting any new ones in or you can expect Display Weirdness and possible Extreme Wonkiness.

Being default replacements, they will not package with any pet uploads, so if you use these and you want your pets to look the same for other people, make sure to link them to this thread so they can get my eyes if they want them.

Yes, modders are looking into doing custom pet genetics - so you could have new eyes that don't override the defaults. However, the way pet texturing works is very complicated, so don't hold your breath, and for crying out loud, no pestering.

Enjoy, kiddies.
