NOTICE 10/23/2017: After a falling out with EA's community management, I have deleted my Origin account and have retired indefinitely from The Sims.

I am retired from modding, and will no longer support my mods. These will no longer work with current patches.

1/8/15: IMPORTANT FIX! I have fixed the "no going to grade school" problem.

Ever had days of work wiped out by a Chance Card? At higher levels of your career, a Medium Performance Loss means an entire week of work down the drain. The lame little story only serves to rub salt into the wound. To make things worse, there is no Ignore option, and a few of the cards carry a risk of failure with both options.

I've reordered the answers so the second answer is always relatively safe. Usually, it's neutral, but sometimes it's "positive moodlet + performance loss" or "negative moodlet + performance gain". I also rewrote some of the offending cards.

The pictured chance card? Without my mod, the first choice is risky - either the teacher accepts, or forces you to stay (making you Angry). The second choice is just wrong - the teacher singles you out and gives you extra homework. Not funny, and not nice.

New result of "Turn It In":

{0.SimFirstName} finishes the last few questions correctly and decides to hope for the best. The school likes to brag about its test scores, but how much can one test matter? Turns out - not at all. Kids make this mistake all the time and the scantron machine adjusts for it.

As for that infamous Tech Guru "The Needs Of The Few" (where ignoring the haters is always the right choice) - I rewrote it completely. The product is in development, and beta testers voice concerns about the radical redesign. You can either go ahead, or make the new version less of a redesign.

Going ahead with the redesign is the risky choice. The result is either a huge success like Windows 95, or massively hated like Windows 8. The performance gain or loss is also large.

EDIT 2/6/15: You will now get a moodlet from my revision of the infamous chance card. +5 Focused or Embarrassed, for 24 hours. These are very strong moodlets, in reflection of the reception of EA's "vision".

TechGuruReplacementCard contains only the replacement card. SaferChanceCards includes rewrites and rearrangements for all the risky or backwards cards.

EDIT 2/10/15: Bug fix for the XML. The SaferChanceCards version should be good now and the TechGuruReplacementCard should also only replace the one chance card.

Technical notes:

This changes the Career Super Interactions (instance type E882D22F), as well as the Business and Athletic "Adventure Moments" (EA's fancy internal name for these rotten Chance Cards), and will conflict with plasticbox's Teen Careers For All Ages.

If there is popular demand, I will make an override package that combines the Teen Careers and Safer Chance Cards, and a complimentary script mod that will remove "kick newly-aged-up YA out of teen career".

The mod that only replaces the Tech Guru chance card does not conflict with Teen Careers for All Ages.
