As I'm working on a custom world, I made this simple mod that fixes this EA oversight and thought I would share it in case anyone else needs it.
This an override of the original OBJD (0x319E4F1D-0x18000000-0x0000000000989DDD) so you can use it in your lots or worlds freely, and the tree will still show up (on the lots not the catalogue) for downloaders even if they don't have this mod installed!
The Sims 3 Ambitions is required (obviously) for this to show up.
