As celebration of my 50th upload and recently reaching 50,000 downloads I present to you my contest entry! Simspiration Studios Presents:

This adorable doll was America's 'sparkling' ray of hope during the Great Depression. It was in the difficult times of the thirties that President Roosevelt said: “As long as we have Shirley Temple, we will be alright.” Well, now our sims will be alright because we have a Shirley Temple sim!

I've created her here as a toddler, she was discovered in a dance studio at the age of 3, so you can start her career at the very beginning. She went on to making movies and continued to do so till she was 13. Backstage her mother was always telling her "Sparkle Shirley, sparkle!" As a teen she wasn't nearly as successful, and backed off from her life on the big screen. As a grown woman she became a politician and was the first person to publicly announce on television that she had breast cancer. This was a shocking thing to do, because at the time that she said it, no one said 'cancer' or 'breast' on TV. She is a strong lady and is still alive today.

I've tried my best to sim her, but I don't think I did her justice. I had one that was slightly more accurate, but everything blended badly and she looked terrible as she aged. This version is cuter, and ages more gracefully and even resembles the real Shirley Temple as she gets older. You will be able to play out her entire life if you want.

In case you do want to play her life as it happened, her parents names were George and Gertrude, and she had two older brothers George Jr. and Jack. She co-starred in four films with tap-dancer Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson as seen in my pictures. She married twice, first at age 17 to Jack Agar. Their marriage didn't work out well and they broke up shortly after the birth of their child Linda Susan. She met her soon-to-be second husband while on vacation in Hawaii before the ink on the divorce papers had even dried. Charles Black was rather indifferent to her fame, which was one of the original problems with her first marriage, in fact, Charles had never even seen any of her films! Shirley took his name after the wedding and now goes by the name Shirley Temple Black. When Susan was four they had a son Charlie Jr, and Shirley almost died giving birth to him. Later she gave a much easier birth to another daughter, Lori.

My First Time:
Making a sim, Making a skin tone, making eyes, making a hair mesh and its texture, animating hair, making a clothing mesh and assigning it to bones (mostly) correctly (Toddlers move in so many ways, its hard to get them all to look good!), and making a sim based off of someone.

Previous Knowledge:
Photoshop (thank you college), Basic object meshing, Bodyshop (clothing only).

Sorry its so much, my laptop still runs it all just fine, but I don't play with huge lots, so your experience may vary.

Compatibility:
Yes, with whatever.

Nitty-gritty: Please don’t upload any of my creations anywhere, they are my toys to share, but I want to be the one to share them. If you use a mesh or recolor in a sim you upload, please link back to me instead of including it. Thanks for respecting my work!

FYI: For those interested in the process of creating the hair I made for her, I had a very long conversation thread over in bodyshop meshing. Read the story here. That prompted me to write up a hair how-to guide. Check that out here.

Enjoy,
-Phaenoh

BTW, if you like the hair, eyes, skin, or dress, go check out my 'official' releases of them which include all the other colors that you are missing from the sets! The hair and eyes are all correctly binned and genetically similar to their Maxis counterparts, meaning they won't always be dominate, they will mix like Maxis does!

P.S. I love reading comments! Leave me a couple?

Additional Credits:
To everyone in the Bodyshop Meshing thread (that I linked to) for helping me through learning how to make hair. My hats off to all hair creators, now I know how hard it is!
