For all you Sci-Fi builders and decorators out there -- here are some build and decorate things to make a Blue Moon neighborhood that is on the Sim-i-verse list of Who's Who and Who's Blue.

Almost everything in this set is basegame compatible. I believe that the sofa sectional recolor and the large Two Dogs & an Olive painting recolors are the only things that requires NightLife.

010 -- The Neighborhood.
This is a modification of Qwinsepia's Waterworld terrain replacer http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=169909. This requires at least one EP.

Extract this file to your downloads folder and then any neighborhood with the "Dirt" terrain will have this terrain substituted instead of the ugly brown grass. The big picture is a lot view, the small inserts are Patul's Lebos Island, http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=168975 and Strangetown. I tried this with a lot of neighborhoods and IMO it generally looks best in smaller, custom neighborhoods with a variety of elevations.

Delete from downloads to get the Maxis look back. You can only have one terrain modifier open in your downloads folder at a time.

A special thanks to Rowenaenchantress, http://hideki.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=168235 who helped get me started on how to modify Qwinsepia's file. And an extra big Thanks to Qwinsepia who was the genius behind this. It is really her hard work & know-how that made this possible. All I did was substitute in some pretty pictures.

020 -- The Terrains.
I made many of these unique seamless terrains from actual pictures of mineral specimens. (Making a nice, seamless texture out of a picture of a pretty rock was a lot harder than I thought -- but all you folks who make seamless textures, already knew that, didn't you?) Others came from Pixelperfect, http://www.pixelperfectdigital.com/...ery.php/cat/603. IMO, they are both realistic and alien.

Because of the detail involved, I used fairly large texture files. I do not believe these will work for Mac users. Sorry.

030 -- Plants, Rocks and Stuff
You don't expect to find your Grandma Maxis same old tired trees and bushes on the Blue Moon do you? Well I sure don't, so here are a few things to make your garden special.

My favorite Maxis tree is the basegame willow -- and here are 4 recolors that coordinate and contrast with the Blue Moon terrain - the very full peacock tree, the drapey blue fern tree, the spring time peach blossom tree and the barely there, wispy peacock feather tree.

Lethe_S made the catapillar forest for the fantasy theme -- and Sci Fi is fantasy using technology rather than magic -- what better set to grace your Blue Moon Garden. I must admit that I am particularly partial to those electric blue mushrooms! Download mesh here:

Rocks are the perfect acessory for gardens -- and you would expect some rocks of a different color on the Blue Moon. Macarossi has the rocks and I have the different colors. Get the meshes PagodaRocks_Pond_Collection_2007, PondBorderStones_macarossi_PondCollection2007, and
waterfall_baseGameWith_Sound_PondCollection2007 here:

040 - Windows, Floor trim, walls & floors.
When I think futuristic building, Iimmediately think of Numenor's wall-window set, http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=70222.

The set of wall-window recolors includes an electric blue that matches Olemantiker's tube fence,
http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=36159, a blue-brown patterned art glass, solid rock wall and 7 variously shaped windows in rock wall. Download the mesh here:
http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=70222. The rock wallwindows take their stone pattern from several of the rock wallpaints below. You can see most of them in the opening shot.

Have you ever noticed how ugly the exposed edge of a floor tile is? Here are some Pixelhate-Numenor wall poster recolors that can be used to cover that ugly edge. These match the trim on the rock walls below.

On a colony planet, they would initially build out of native materials -- rock and partially processed rock. I personally dislike the look of 'uniform' rock walls, so I made a huge set of rock walls. It consists of 2 sets (A-D and E-H) of 4-wall seamless rock paints. Each set of 4 is also seamless top & bottom with the other set of 4. On the A thru D set there are two polished stone trim variations -- plain and star. There is an additional 'polished stone' wall that matches the trim. It works great for accenting walls with windows or doors. I know, it is overkill for most builders, but there are a few (you know who you are) who share my passion for variety.

There are two polished stone floors, and two colored-patterned rock 5-tile floors -- beautifully seamless & richly hued. To wrap up the series, there is a light colored tile floor whose colors coordinate nicely with all the other parts of this set.

Finally, there is a series of deceptively simple looking interior walls. When you have them in game, take a close look at the rich, varied tones that give them a deep, realistic look.

050 - Decorator items.

You wouldn't expect to find the same old tired Maxis art on the Blue Moon -- so here are some recolors of The Lady in Red, Two Dogs & an Olive, The chimes, and rare recolors of the Korean Keumongo. On earth, you would have a Maxis potted fig -- on the BlueMoon, you can have a potted peacock tree. A few more Pixelhate Poster recolors round out the set. There are two Pixelhate space-scapes (not pictured in art image, but you can see one in the furniture pic) which are lightly translucent. I used them as view screens in a control room.

060 - The furniture

An assortment of Maxis recolors to get your decorating started. The Nightlife sectional sofa is warm and inviting in a plush dawn-fawn color. Pair it with the loft bookcase -- either in a matching fawn-dawn color or a contrasting soft blue. The outdoor chess set is available in a deeper fawn color, a blue-moon bornite rock and a highly reflective blue-green peacock color. The egg chairs come in fawn, deep blue and a translucent blue.

You can fully equip your kitchen with the blue counters and matching appliances-stove, refrigerator, dishwasher & trash compactor. The lights and table in the picture are by Olemantiker.
