I loved Calgary when I lived there, and I was always fascinated by the City Hall. It's architecture is pretty cool, and it inspired me to tackle building it in the game. It's a challenge! I could have built the historical city hall, but it looks very much like the rabbithole that came with Twinbrook, so I chose to build the modern city hall instead. The other factor is that the modern city hall dwarfs the historical one, which is the opposite in the Sims. The game rabbithole dwarfs this build. LOL
The first challenge was the different levels needed to actually build the thing, not to mention the real building has more than 5 levels. The cfe cheat was definitely used on this lot. Of course, building in the 64-bit version, I had to keep the lot down to a dull roar to prevent a rendering issue, so all of the upper levels are a "shell" of the original, and the "windows" are just wall covering that resemble windows. I did try it with real windows, but it was a see through nightmare that didn't look anything like the real thing.
I also used skip level markers on the top 3 floors so when you play, it'll go from roof to main in a click or two. If anyone feels like removing the markers and filling in the office space, have at 'er! My machine would hate it, so I didn't do it. The city hall rabbithole is in the basement with elevator access. I play-tested the lot and it worked fine.
There was no store content or custom content used in this build. Game items only.
**The only item used from Island Paradise is the front doors.
The only item used from Fast Lane stuff is the loveseats in the office.
If you don't have these it's no biggie.
***I did use velocitygrass's "Remove Stencils/Overlays" mod on the concrete fence by the front door. I transferred the file between systems and machines and it worked fine. The stencils never returned. It can be found here at MTS.
As this is the sims, I did the best I could to make it resemble the real world building...even if it's not perfect it came out pretty nice and is still functional.
