Chapter 10 – The New Guy

“You drink at a bar by yourself on Friday nights often?”

Wiping her damped eyes, Nina looks up at the source of the deep voice, “No, actually, just tonight,”

“In case you’re wondering where this handsome guy’s date is,
I’m also here by myself.” He gives her a warm smile, “Hi, I’m Ryan.”

“Hi Ryan, I’m Nina,” she says, “Gosh you look just like the guy I was seeing.”



“The reason you’re here alone I’m assuming?”

“I guess you can say that. He’s marrying his fiancé and
apparently he doesn’t want anything to do with me anymore.”

“Then why did i just see you crying over him?”



“Because… He’s my bestfriend. Well, he WAS my bestfriend. He was the first person I talked to when
my sister and I first moved in to town. I’m just a little bummed out.” Nina finds herself telling this
stranger things she would only tell her sister. The facts that he’s hot and incredibly charming help.



“Well, Nina, believe it or not, I’m new in town. I’ve been busy moving in my
things the whole week and tonight I decided to come downtown and explore.
And long story short, YOU happened to be the first person I talked to.”

“You're kidding,” says Nina, slightly amused at the irony the situation presents, “Where do you live?”

“43 Middle Lane. It’s this modern house my buddy designed. He's
this up and coming architect. You can’t miss it if you drive by.”



“Are you kidding? That’s a block from my house! You’re the new guy
moving in that’s been making a lot of racket the past couple of weeks?”

“I’m sorry,” Ryan chuckles. "Hey the bar is almost closing. What do you
say I give you a tour around my house?”

“I don’t know… I have a wedding rehearsal tomorrow afternoon.”

“You mean the wedding rehearsal of the guy that dumped you?”



Nina slowly lets out a little grin as her new acquaintance does the same, “Fine. Let’s go.”
