Starting with the original game of TS2, Maxis had introduced the hidden skill "Romance" which could be practiced with any mirror. But the skill never filled because both commands "Practice Speech" and "Practice Romance" addressed the charisma skill. I don't know if this was done intentionally or if it is a bug, but this hack corrects it. With this hack installed, "Practice Romance" now fills the hidden Romance skill. To check the progress, you will either need my Bonsai of Wisdom, my TeenStar PC (usable only by teens & kids) or any other hack that displays the hidden skills.

This hack works with all Maxis' mirrors, with any custom mirror that didn't modify the pie menus, and with all EP's.

No screenshots available; correction of solely internal game functions.

Known problems:
When practicing romance, after gaining a skill point, a message says that your sim has gained a charisma skill point. Just ignore this message; that skill point goes to the romance skill. I didn't want to modify a function which is used by all skills; chances to mess up some important part was too high.

Known impact:
None. During testing, I didn't see any difference in the behaviour of a sim with a high or low romance skill, and also other sims didn't exactly react on a high romance skill. Maybe this romance skill is reserved for future use; if that should be the case, just keep in mind to delete this hack whenever a manual says something about "Romance skill". On the other hand, maybe Maxis just gave up the romance skill in favour of charisma. No idea.

Installation:
Extract the file CtfG_PracticeRomance_BugFix.package into your Downloads folder under \MyDocuments\EA Games\The Sims 2\. To de-install, simply delete or remove the file from this folder.

Update 2007-03-29
This hack works with SEASONS. No modifications necessary. There still is no real practical use for this hack, but who knows...

Update 2007-04-18
Correction of the above! With Seasons, the Romance skill has been reassigned, as you can read here:
Code:
my person data Romance Skill (0x6F) <= Const 0x202B(Motives - Fail/Distress - Values):0x21(-60 (0xFFC4))

This line comes from BHAV 0x246B, Group 0x7F01EC29. Since the Romance skill doesn't have any practical use in the game, I strongly recommend to de-install this hack or not to install it.
