Today I have a business lot to share with you. Its another of my older projects that I finally got around to finishing. Welcome to Treasure Island Bookstore!



The description for the lot reads, "Avast mateys! Arrr ye ready for some swashbuckling adventures on the high seas of the imagination? Then get yer pirate booty down to the Treasure Island Bookstore, and pick up a book today! Yarr!" As you can see, Treasure Island Bookstore is a bookstore shaped like a pirate ship. I used the pirate ship that came with Bon Voyage as a template for building this. The bookstore is "floating" on a fishable lake, permanently anchored at dock. In order to get that effect, I built it on foundation which I painted blue. This is NOT a beach lot, although I did place it near the ocean in order to get better screenshots.



The front doors on the dock lead to the main shop, which takes up the whole bottom part of the ship. From the dock, sims can also climb the staircase to go above deck.



Lets tour the shop!

The checkout counter is located conveniently close to the front doors. It has room to add a second cash register as your business grows, and is blocked off by two gates so you can keep customers from walking around behind the counter.

Towards the bow is a reading area with an aquarium. Please note, the bookshelves behind those two couches are not accessible - they are decorative only! Don't mark them for sale, or your sims will get very frustrated! Personally, I leave all the bookshelves from the aquarium on down as "not for sale", to encourage sims to actually sit and read in the reading nook.

On the stern side, there is a sales display of decorative books, a magazine rack, and a chess table. The public restrooms are also located in the stern.



Above deck is where you will find the captain's cabin (aka: your sim's office). There is also a barbecue with table and chairs. Your sims can grill the fish they catch in the lake for an easy free meal. Sims can also climb the stairs next to the captain's cabin in order to reach the wheel (which is purely decorative), or they can lounge around on the couches on the bow. There is a plank, but its roped off for the safety of your customers.



Inside the captain's cabin is a desk with computer and phone, another bookshelf with your sim's private collection, and a comfy couch to relax on while they read. There is also a dining set that they will choose to eat at before sitting outside, and a private bathroom. The captain's bathroom includes a basic shower for the business owner who practically lives at work. If you dig up a treasure chest, it looks pretty awesome in the captain's cabin.

What exactly are you selling? Books, magazines, and decorative books. Mark the bookcases and the magazine rack for sale, and sims will purchase single books and magazines (rather than buying the whole bookshelf or the whole magazine rack). These will need to be restocked as they become depleted. The display of decorative books is also sellable. If you play a sim later who has purchased a book, it will be sitting in their inventory. You can get rid of it by putting it in the world and having them put away all books, or by selling it from their inventory.

At a whopping $70,297, its unlikely that this business will be a first business. Treasure Island is more likely to be acquired by a legacy family, or a business owner who has already bought, built up, and sold a few businesses.
