“You have seen several Shadow Games of mine before but this one will be different. I have thrown in some special twists especially for you.”
-Yami Marik, Yu-Gi-Oh!
Introduction:
This mod adds the Shadow Games from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise to the game. The mod is based around the Dominoes Table from The Sims 3: Showtime, and also allows your Sims to wield the powers of the Shadow Games from Yu-Gi-Oh!.

A Shadow Game (also known as a Game of Darkness or Dark Game) is a contest in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series generally between two people that involves a harsh Penalty Game for the loser. Shadow Games are predominately mentioned in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. Shadow Duels, which are Shadow Games of Duel Monsters, are also played. Egyptians first played the Shadow Games. Using various means of sorcery, they send themselves into an alternate dimension where their duel would not be interrupted, and where cheating is strictly forbidden, punishable by death. In the Shadow Games, the sorcerers' skills would be tested by seeing how powerful the monsters they could summon, and how powerful a spell they could cast to power up their monsters. The power of the monsters could best be harnessed by the Millennium Items. In the modern world, the possessor of a Millennium Item can challenge another person to a Shadow Game.

How does the Shadow Games mod work?
The main requirement for this mod is the Package File called Lost_Pantheon_Shadow_Games_Mod. When this file is in your game, the functionality of the Jelly Bean Bush from The Sims 3: Supernatural will be replaced. You will be unable to purchase the vanilla Jelly Bean Bush in your game, however any existing Jelly Bean bushes in the game world will still remain. Instead, you will also need at least one of the Lost_Pantheon_Millennium_Puzzle and/or Lost_Pantheon_Millennium_Ring Packages. You can install one or both of these Packages, as long as you have one.

The Millennium Puzzle and Millennium Ring can both be purchased in Entertainment > Miscellaneous Entertainment for §5000 each. They can be dragged around the lot with the hand tool but cannot be placed in your inventory. They can also be placed on surfaces.

In order to begin a Shadow Game you must instruct one of your Sims to "Eat Jelly Bean" from one of the Millennium Items you have placed in the world (Sims will not do this autonomously). When you do, the Sim's appearance will change and there will be shadows around their eyes. For the next eight hours that Sim will have a moodlet called "Oddly Powerful" (this is different to the regular "Oddly Powerful moodlet".) There is also a small chance that using a Millennium Item will give your Sim a minor negative moodlet, but you can just click the item again.

While a Sim has this moodlet they will be able to begin Shadow Games with surrounding Sims for the next eight hours (for simplicity's sake I will call Sims with this Moodlet "Yami" Sims). Any Sims in the vicinity of the Yami Sim will gain a corresponsing permanent Shadow Game moodlet called "It's Dark" and will begin coughing. Note that many Occults cannot engage in Shadow Games, such as Vampires and Plumbots.

While a Sim has the "It's Dark" moodlet, if they ever play a game of Dominoes and play poorly they can die by being banished to the Shadow Realm. Note that it is not always a guarantee that a Sim in a Shadow Game will die if they are losing a Dominoes game, but there is always a possibility. The ghost of a Sim that dies in a Shadow Game will have a light orange ghost with light blue hair, the same as a Sim that died from a Time Anomaly.

A Yami Sim can also receive the "It's Dark" Shadow Game moodlet if they are in the presence of another Yami Sim. Note that due to The Sims 3's coding, Teen Sims and younger cannot die in Shadow Games (This is due to how Into the Future deals with Time Anomaly deaths.)

How to play duels?
You can play a "Duel" at any Kingdomino Table from The Sims 3: Showtime. Alternatively, I have created a Duel Monsters table called Lost_Pantheon_Duel_Monsters_Table that is basically a re-flavoured Dominoes Table. This table is technically optional, as you can just play at the Dominoes table from Showtime, but my table is more flavourful for a Yu-Gi-Oh! duel. The table is recolourable and will show Yu-Gi-Oh! cards on it as Sims play at it.

Additional Mod Information
  • This mod replaces the functionality of the Pestilence Plague from The Sims 3: Supernatural as well as the functionality of the Tragic
Clown from The Sims 3: Supernatural. Instead both of these features are used in Shadow Games.
  • A Sim that encounters a Yami Sim will remain in a Shadow Game with the "It's Dark" Moodlet for the rest of their life.
  • This mod replaces the Buffs Resource. Therefore it will conflict with any mod that does the same, including my Demon Transformation and Symbiote Transformation mods. It also has the same functionality of my Deadly Spellcasting Duels (Health Bar Version) mod, and will conflict with any other version of that mod.
Mods and Packs required:
I created this mod on version 1.67.
  • The Sims 3: Showtime Expansion Pack is required
  • The Sims 3: Supernatural Expansion Pack is required
  • The Sims 3: Into the Future Expansion Pack is required
  • You must have the Glowing Eye of Anubis from YuGiOh by SallyCompaq122 in your game if you wish for your Yami Sims to have the glowing Eye on their head when they use their powers. Note that this is optional, but is highly recommended. You must have the Flat Shine version of SallyCompaq122's mod in your game.
