I've made a small cabin dorm in nature, because the dorms in the game don't make your sim though enough.
Here they have to share their bedroom with 3 other sims. All they need is in and around the building.

The bikes and two cars disappeared after I changed it to a dorm, your sims should get their own. I only used the base game, University, and Generations. The Llama (Phonecell) comes from Supernatural but because this is the only one in the world it doesn't matter if you use this dorm without that. You could just exchange it with a larger thrashcan.
