THE SIMS 3: ULTIMATE OBJECT OVERHAUL

So long no see! I've been working on many projects in the past year, but I couldn't wait to share this one with all of you.

As all of you know, the catalog in The Sims 3 with all packs installed is a bit of a mess. It's hard to find anything, especially in some categories like Buy Debug and Decor Misc. Not only that, but the objects themselves have issues, from cabinets that can't be raised up and down the wall, to incorrect slot placement flags. So my main goal with this mod was to create the ULTIMATE OBJECT OVERHAUL that will make every fix possible to the OBJDs of the base game and all packs.

I edited almost 3000 OBJDs to fix all these issues and create a new sorting that makes more sense and makes things easier to find.

I used the UI Sort Priority tag in the OBJDs to sort things by type, size or function (whatever applies to the category) in a way that I think it'll make the catalog more useful and intuitive. No longer you'll have to scroll up and down through some categories to find what you're looking for. Now everything is sorted in a manner that makes sense.

Some examples of my new sorting:

Sculptures:

Misc Decor:

Buy Debug:

SHIFTABLES:

Almost every Wall Object was made SHIFTABLE: curtains, blinds, awnings, cabinets, TVs, clocks, wall art, wall sculptures, etc.

Mirrors are also shiftable but keep in mind your Sims can get stuck on the ground if you shift them down from their original position. Shifting them up will make them float, but it's generally safe.

Some objects such as wall phones are not shiftable because Sims need to touch them to interact with them.

UNHIDDEN OBJECTS:

Dozens of objects have been unhidden from the catalog, like a secret sculpture from the World Adventures pack, and dozens of road signs and traffic lights for the Edit in Town catalog.

One of the objects Lost & Found:

All SimPort Rewards have been enabled as well (CAS Rewards not included). The sorting by THEME works now as EA always intended.

There were tons of Trophies and Rewards from different packs that didn't show in the catalog. That's fixed now. I added MANY, MANY objects to the Misc Decor category that were hidden.

EXPANDED EDIT IN TOWN CATALOG:

I added dozen of new objects, from road signs and traffic lights to buildings and street lights to the Landmarks category in the Edit in Town catalog:

Keep in mind some of the larger buildings don't have a proper footprint when placed in this mode, so your Sims will walk right through them.

You also can't place objects on roads or lots from this mode.

GENERAL FIXES:

- I fixed the Slot Placement tags of most objects so objects that make sense to put on surfaces could actually be put on surfaces. This doesn't add new slot to existing objects.
- Community objects that cost $0 in the vanilla game now cost money. This makes more sense as your Sims can own community lots and nothing should be free.
- Many objects were moved from Debug Misc to the normal catalog, such as some of the secret sculptures from Ambitions, the Celebrity Rewards from Late Night and some festival objects such as fireworks.
- All Showtime props have been removed from redundant catalog entries. That's what was preventing the objects from having EA's intended sorting by theme.
- Some objects that were missing a description or name were given a hardcoded one in English.

THE UI SORT PRIORITY FIELD:

As you probably noticed, I managed to sort subcategories without changing the prices. That was achieved with the "UI Sort Priority" field. This field was added with the "Showtime" patch but it was underused until the "Into the Future" pack. This field allows you sort things exactly how you want in the catalog using a hex code.

I'm going to share my hex codes so you can sort your CC based on my system. You only need S3PE.

QUICK TUTORIAL:
1- Open the package file of the object you want to edit.
2- Click on the OBJD resource and then on the Grid button.
3- Expand the Common Block section and click on UI Sort Priority.
4- Change the last digit (or last two digits in some cases) for the one in my list.
5- Click Commit and then save. Done!

MY UI SORT PRIORITY:

INSTALLATION:

Extract the .package file from the zip archive and put it in your OVERRIDES folder.

All EPs and SPs are required for this mod to work as intended

If you don't have all the EPs and SPs, you'll encounter "blank thumbnails" in the catalog (you click and nothing happens) as the 3D data and thumbnail are only available if you have the pack. I might release a version for people without Katy Perry Sweet Treats in the future, as this pack is no longer available for sale.

COMPATIBILITY:

This mod will conflict with any mod that edits the base game or EPs/SPs OBJDs. I edited practically all OBJDs.

It makes mods that made curtains, wall objects, etc. shiftable obsolete, as well as those that fix the problems I took care of.

I intend to make a version compatible with Simsi45's "Hidden Stencils Unlocked" in the future.

FUTURE UPDATES

I want to update this in the future to unhide more world decoration. There are still a few I didn't find.

I'm now working in an Object Overhaul of the entire The Sims 3 Store. That's a massive project because the Store adds more content than the BG and all packs COMBINED. So it'll take a few months to finish it. I intend to apply all the same principles I applied here: make objects shiftable, fix catalog entries, slot placement, etc.

If you have any suggestions as to what I could change or do to improve this, don't hesitate to leave a comment.
