Chapter 9
Shadee wanted to run, she wanted to run as fast as she could. But her feet just wouldn’t move. She knew all this meant trouble, but she was in a state of shock, she was paralyzed, rooted on the spot.
But before she could do anything, Sebastien’s father was exactly in front of her, blocking all ways of escaping.
‘What do we have in here?’ he slurred, intently staring at her breasts ‘Come in, pretty!’
He grabbed the girl’s writs tightly and dragged her inside, locking the front door afterwards.
Sebastien had managed to crawl to a place somewhere in the kitchen area. He was coughing and panting, probably having difficulty breathing.
The man threw Shadee brutally on the couch, then stood up and looked at her with delight.
‘I know why you’re here, pretty!’ he said, giving the girl a perverted grin ‘You just wanna be f***ed!’ he sat down on the couch too, coming closer to her, rubbing his sweaty body against hers.
Shadee couldn’t believe her eyes and ears. She was lying helplessly on the stinky couch, feeling the alcoholic breath of the tall, bulky man, unable to speak or move a muscle in her defense.
Sebastien’s father began to unzip his fly in a very slow, drunken manner. His intentions were as clear as daylight. Suddenly, Shadee’s senses became alert: she was going to be raped unless she did something.
‘No!’ she yelled and tried to hit the man with her tightly clenched fists, but she was too weak comparing to him. He just grabbed her wrists tightly and threw her against the sofa, towering above her with all his weight, depriving her of the much needed air.
The girl felt her arms being grabbed by only one of the enormous paws of the man, she was indeed trapped. The other hand glided down towards her pants and began to unzip her fly. Shadee closed her eyes tightly; she refused to believe this was happening to her; she tried to imagine a happy place, but the stinky, alcoholic breath of the man brought her back to the harsh reality.
‘No…’ she said again, but this time it was no longer a shout, it was a moan. Tears began to roll down her cheeks as the man’s hand had successfully slipped inside her pants.
She was sure nothing would save her, she was helpless, trapped under the drunk man, she couldn’t move, defend herself, she couldn’t even scream, just cry.
Suddenly, there was a loud, metallic bang and the girl felt the weight pressing on her lift lightly.
She opened her eyes exactly as the man was slipping to the floor. He landed with a thud and lay there motionless, as if he were dead. Sebastien was standing near the sofa, a blackened frying pan in his hand, panting slightly. There was another metallic thud as he dropped the pan to the floor.
‘Are – are you okay?’ he panted, eyes widened.
Shadee nodded, then stared at the man lying on the floor. What had Sebastien done?!
‘Is he…dead?’ she asked frightfully, trying to detect any vital signs coming from him.
The boy bent down and checked his pulse. He was alive, just knocked out.
‘Help me drag him to the bedroom.’ Sebastien ushered, getting hold of his father’s legs.
They lay him on one of the shaggy beds, then returned to the other part of the trailer. The shock of all that had happened was slowly beginning to wear off .
The boy faced Shadee. He seemed quite angry.
‘What the heck were you doing here?’ he barked, making the girl start.
‘I – I just wanted to check whether you were ok…’
‘Well, I’m not okay!’ he snapped back angrily. Shadee had no clue why he was acting like that ‘I have a drunk, b*****d of a father that beats the c**p out of me almost daily and steals the money I earn from my crappy, part time job.’
‘You don’t have to yell like that!’ Shadee retorted furrowing her brow.
‘What the h*ll do you know about my life?!?’ he shouted, even angrier than before ‘You know what? I’m sick of people like you! People that have everything they want: they have a family, they have a nice, big house with a swimming pool, lots of money! You all think you’re better than everyone else, don’t you?!? You just don’t deserve everything you’ve got. And just because you have all these doesn’t give you the right to you come here and laugh because my life is c**p!’
‘I – I never said that.’ The girl whispered, her bottom lip slightly trembling.
‘Shut the f**k up! I know this is what you’re thinking! That’s what you’re all thinking! You think I don’t know what names you people are calling me? You think I don’t know how you laugh about me every day? You think that because I’m an “emo weirdo” I don’t have feelings?!? Do you?’
‘I really never said or did any of these things!’ Shadee broke into tears.
‘You know what? Just get the h*ll out of here! You’ve already put me into a lot of trouble with him!’
Shadee didn’t wait for him to tell her that twice. She turned on her heel and stormed out of the trailer, tears streaming down her face and smudging her mascara. Why was he doing that to her? She had only wanted to help. She had most definitely never made fun of him, called him names or gossiped with anyone about him. Life was just unfair sometimes!
