Title: Newbie Road 51 [NL] - Starter House
Category: Lots & Housing > Residential > Starter Homes

Cost: 19.998
Lot size: 2x2

Nightlife expansion required.
No custom content.

Description:
A beautiful little country house, furnished for 1-2 sims but suitable for a small family (this is bigger than it looks from the outside, due to the custom roof construction that allows for a bigger attic). Some landscaping and decoration, small garden, one driveway included with enough room for a second one.

1 x double bedroom
2 x bathroom
1 x kitchen
1 x living room
2 x spare room (unfurnished)

Basic appliances included: lights, toilet, shower/tub combo, fridge, kitchen sink, phone, burglar alarm, smoke detector, bookshelf. This house also has an easel (not on the screenshots -- forgot to take pictures after I added it); the toilet tucked in under the stairs has been playtested and works 1a (see screenshot).

Expandability: Perhaps a little shed in the garden, but otherwise it's not worth the trouble I think.

Note:
If you get an "expansion pack data required" error upon installation, use Clean Installer instead of the Maxis one. Apparently this is a known issue (not specific to this download), see this thread describing the problem and this post (daysies) explaining the workaround.

Enjoy!

About the last picture: Due to the way that most Maxis stairs are constructed (they all have this wooden thing underneath, except for Holy Smoke and the wrought iron ones), there's a -- purely optical -- glitch that you might encounter if you use the tabbed camera view a lot: the wooden thing underneath the stairs will show if the camera is on the same level as the stairs *and* in tabbed mode. Which means you won't be able to see your sims while they're doing business on the toilet (but they will still be able to do it perfectly fine). If this bothers you, there are some beautiful custom stairs here that don't have the "thing underneath" (Balustrade Stairs, by Brasstex; there's probably others as well) -- you might want to install and use those instead.

I never use the tabbed view in-game (only for taking pics), so I don't know how much of an issue this is for others ... for me the opposite was the problem: I didn't like how the stairs magically disappear in normal camera mode, so I thought I'd put something there that would make sense both for the sims *and* the user, and this kind of thing -- toilet or small storeroom underneath stairs -- I've actually seen (and bonked my head on) in RL.
