Baking Skill

Baking is a 10 level skill, and is primarily gained by sims making baked goods under the new “Bake…” pie menu option on refrigerators, or from reading baking skill books found at the bookstore.

There is also a new baking skill class available at the Bistro rabbithole for §400.

Similar to the cooking skill, the higher a sim’s baking skill level, the more recipes they will unlock, the more sophisticated their preparation animations will be, and the less likely they are to burn what they’re baking.

Sims with the Natural Cook trait will learn the baking skill faster, create higher quality baked goods more often, and won’t burn any food they bake.

Sims with the Born to Cook lifetime reward will have the quality of their baked goods increased by one level.

Child sims who use the toy oven will get a boost in the baking skill when they age into teens.

For players who use ani’s No Fridge Shopping mod, set the kNoFridgeShopping value in the XML file to “True” to require ingredients before a sim can bake a recipe.

Selling Baked Goods

Baked goods can be sold at three different places: a local bakery, the grocery store, and the bistro. Their base price is determined by their Venue Value, as listed in their recipe xml file.

At Level 3 of the baking skill, sims can sell their baked goods using the “Sell to Local Bakery” interaction on a full group serving of a baked good that is Normal quality or better.

At Level 5 of the baking skill, sims can sell their baked goods in bulk using the “Sell Baked Goods” interaction at the Grocery Store rabbithole with at least one full group serving of a baked good that is Nice quality or better. Baked goods sold here can sell for 20% more than selling to a local bakery.

At Level 8 of the baking skill, sims can sell their baked goods in bulk using the “Sell Baked Goods” interaction at the Bistro rabbithole with at least one full group serving of a baked good that is Excellent quality or better. Baked goods sold here can sell for 50% more than selling to a local bakery.

The quality of the baked goods and the skill level of the sim who baked it will increase how much the baked goods can be sold for.

If your sim has the Born Salesperson trait or the Suave Seller lifetime reward, they will make an additional 20% on any baked goods they sell.

If your sim is a Level 1 celebrity or higher, they will gain celebrity points from selling their baked goods.

Custom Recipes

There are 50 custom recipes converted from The Sims 4 and custom content creators including ONI, TianaSims, Littlbowbub, and oduvnix-ts4.

You’ll be able to choose which recipes you want and which ones you don’t.

Five desserts from The Sims 3 have also been given baking skill equivalents: Cookies, Pumpkin Pie (requires The Sims 3: Seasons), Cobbler, Key Lime Pie, and Baked Angel Food Cake.

All of these recipes are split into the following categories: Cakes, Cobblers, Cookies, Cupcakes, Gourmet, Pastries, Pies, Savory, and Other Baked Goods.

The included recipes are listed below:

Baker’s Station Add-on

If you have the Baker’s Station installed, 30 additional recipes from that premium store content will be available to bake, with tweaked ingredient requirements and adjusted skill levels.

If you don't have the Baker's Station installed, you can delete the Baker's Station Add-on file from the mod folder.

The included recipes are listed below:

Cookies Texture Override

I’ve also created an override for the textures on the four cookie recipes that come with the Baker’s Station using the cookie textures from The Sims 4: Get To Work.

The file is named “twinsimming_Baking_Mod [Cookies Override]” and should be placed in your Overrides folder.

New Ingredients

All of the new ingredients can be purchased from the grocery store for the following prices:
  • *Butter (§5) - Can also be made using my Pasteurize Milk Mod.
  • Chocolate (§5)
  • Dough (§5)
  • Flour (§7)
  • Sugar (§7)
  • **Whole Milk (§11)
*Note If you have my Breakfast At Twinsimming's recipes or Pasteurize Milk Mod installed, you can delete the Butter package inside the “Ingredients” folder.

**Note: If you have my Pasteurize Milk Mod installed, Pasteurized Milk and Pasteurized Soy Milk can both be used in place of Whole Milk.

Creating Custom Baked Goods

For recipe creators, you can add your own recipes to the mod by using one of the following prefixes at the beginning of your Recipe Key, Recipe Class, and Cooking Process entries, depending on what category you want the recipe to show up under:
  • "TBMBakeCake"
  • "TBMBakeCobbler"
  • "TBMBakeCookie"
  • "TBMBakeCupcake"
  • "TBMBakeGourmet"
  • "TBMBakePastry"
  • "TBMBakePie"
  • "TBMBakeSavory"
  • "TBMBakeOther"

Tuning

All of the following values are tunable in the mod’s XML files.

Conflicts & Known Issues

This is a new script mod so there shouldn’t be any conflicts.

Uninstallation

Just as with other custom skills, removing the baking skill may cause issues in saves where the skill has been used.

I have created a new cheat called “uninstallBakingMod” to remove the baking skill from any sims in the world and cancel all baking interactions that may be active, but use this mod with caution.

Poly Counts

All of the meshes converted are 1k poly or less!
