*Edit (2012-06-17): CyberBob78 made a great CASTable (and shiftable) version of the Panic Rouser Fire Alarm so you could replace these recolours with a CASTable version. The CASTable version, however, is available for walls only and not for the ceiling, but since it is shiftable it can be moved to the desired place at the wall. Please download the CASTable version here , thank you!
*Edit (2012-03-01): All files are still working fine in game - tested with game version 11.0.84.014017.
*Edit (2010-04-25): All files were checked with the newest update version (3.2.6.005001) - they still work fine in game and can be used both with the base game and also with the latest expansion pack "Luxury Accessoires", however, no expansion pack is required for these files.

lemoncandy for always being helpful and especially for pointing me to the right direction regarding moving the fire alarm to the right position.

Don't spoil your Sims' view by placing the fire alarm at the wall. With this download you'll be able to choose from 8 colours of a fire alarm that can be placed up at the ceiling...
Attention: If you want to remove the ceiling fire alarm again, please go above the ceiling fire alarm and grab and/or delete it from a bird's eye view - it's not possible to grab it from the side - thanks to lukyzade for pointing this out
I rotated the clones and moved their position up to the ceiling (with MilkShape), recoloured them and tested every single one in game (and also all of them at the same time).
You'll find the recolours next to the original "Panic Rouser Fire Alarm" in game in the buy category > electronics > misc. electronics and the price for the ceiling fire alarm is 110 $imoleons, so all the "Panic Rouser Ceiling Fire Alarm" colours will appear right after the standard "Panic Rouser Fire Alarm" for the wall.
For the ceiling fire alarm I added a clone with the original greyish colour of the original standard fire alarm from Maxis - just in case you guys like that colour, too.
The recolours don't replace the original and they all show up with their own thumbnail pictures, however, there is a known issue regarding the preview pictures (see picture) - sorry for that.
Enjoy the new fire alarm and its recolours!

This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.

Install Instructions
Quick Guide:
1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.
For Package files:
1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
For Sims3Pack files:
1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.
