Updated: 17th Apr 2005 at 4:15 PM - Added "HUGE" version
17-APR: Added *huge* version (100% of the original mesh), as per request.
16-APR: Added the "Medium size" and the "Big size" versions, as per request.
Note: All the four versions are completely stand-alone, have their own GUIDs and they are recolourable separately (they *do not* share the textures).

To give you an idea of the dimensions, the small one is about 1.7 times the height of an adult sim; the medium one is 2.5 times; the big one, about 4 times an adult sim. The huge one is as high as a 5-storey house.

(Original post follows)

Most of you will probably recognize this object as the Radiotelescope available in the game as Neighborhood decor.

I've ported it into the standard Buy Mode catalog, after having adapted it to comply to the normal objects requirements; actually, the original NH radiotelescope was a bare mesh, and I had to build the scenegraph tree from scratch, create a suitable Object Data, and consistently resizing the mesh: man, it was *huge*! The attached radiotelescope is only 30% of the original size, and it's still very big for a residential lot (we don't want the radiotelescope being bigger of the house, do we? ).

You can find it in the catalog under Misc / Misc.

As a side note, part of the base of the telescope extends under the terrain level: this is intentional, because when you place it on a slope, the base can adapt to the terrain (in order to place it on a slope you have to use the move_objects cheat!).

As usual, the object is EP-ready and recolourable; the recolourable parts are the base and the dish (except for the metallic frame inside the dish). I've set up a convenient template that you can use for your recolours.

Let me know if there are any problems, and what you think about its size: should it be bigger, or smaller, or is it OK as is?
