As a sort of tribute to the memory of the recently shut-down EA Sims 2 site, I thought it would be nice to rescue the nifty Alienware computer created by MaxoidMonkey for the site, and convert it for The Sims 3.
It's found under Computers and costs 2000 simoleons. It comes ready with three CaST presets for the original recolours of green, blue and black, but you can of course recolour them however you like.
It has three recolour channels: the tower unit, the keyboard, and the mouse. This was a somewhat less than ideally mapped item and I had to struggle a bit to make it recolourable - for instance, the keyboard shared the same map space as the side of the tower unit and I had to do my best to move the keyboard mapping elsewhere in the map, in which there was very little spare room, so as a result patterns applied to the keyboard will be very stretched as seen in the tiling map in the below pic. The mapping for the tower unit is also a bit stretched horizontally, and there wasn't enough room on the map to fix that. (This is often a problem with Maxis conversions - they were just not really made to be recolourable.)
I quite like it with the chrome CaSTing on the far right:
Or you can just CaST it to match its user:
Small issue: The original texture for the tower unit's outer shell was horribly pixellated for some reason and it looked terrible in TS3, so I had to make a whole new one by baking the mesh. So, the tower unit's outer shell texture is not 100% authentic to the original, sorry, I did the best I could!
Please note that you need to be patched to at least patch level 1.26 upwards in order for this computer to function properly, due to patch 1.26 having changed the way most objects function.
Thanks for looking, hope you'll like this out-of-this-world computer!

Thank you to MaxoidMonkey for the original.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below for more information.

Install Instructions
Quick Guide:
1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.
For Package files:
1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
For Sims3Pack files:
1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.
