Title: Newbie Road 09 - Starter House
Category: Lots & Housing > Residential > Starter Homes
Cost: 19.953
Lot size: 3x3
No expansion packs required.
No custom content.
Description:
Modern starter house for 1-2 Sims, quite large for a starter (and on a medium lot), but very sparsely furnished. Minimal landscaping/decoration. This house is designed as a row house -- you can build a second, identical one next to it on the same lot.
1 x double bedroom
2 x bathroom (1 furnished)
1 x kitchen
1 x dining/livingroom
1 x spare room (unfurnished), can be made into two rooms
Basic appliances included: lights, toilet, tub, fridge, kitchen sink, trashcan, phone, burglar alarm, bookshelf. NO smoke detector. I believe there's enough room for a carport in front of the house (7x10 squares), although I'm not 100% sure how long a carport is.
Expandability: Spare room inside the house, also there's space for another house on the same lot (row house style - build it 2 squares from the right side of the lot and the row will be evenly spaced in neighborhood view if you place several of these).
Highly redommended: If you do the row house thing, use Inge Jones' keyholder doors (www.simlogical.com, go to Downloads > TS2 > Hacked Doors) or a similar limited-access system -- otherwise your sims will not know which house is theirs.
Note:
If you get an "expansion pack data required" error upon installation, using Clean Installer should help. Apparently this is a known issue (not specific to this download), see this thread describing the problem and this post (daysies) explaining the workaround.
Enjoy!

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
