The Better Homes & Gardens magazine was aimed at the heart of the great American middle class, and featured one-of-a-kind home plans, as well as home-improvement ideas to help bring even the simplest dwellings into the modern age. We had stacks of them in my house growing up.

This 1960 plan was featured in BH&G as one of its Five Star Plans, a distinction reserved for the best of the best. Try as I might, Maxis limitations made it impossible for me to recreate the facade exactly, but it retains the look and feel of Mid Century Modern and preserves the floor plan with almost no changes. And, being a Better Homes & Gardens plan, I tried to make it a better home and better garden.

It's a 2BD/1BA home with a combined living-dining area, an eat-in kitchen, a carport, patio, pool, and jacuzzi. It has the best flow of any of the MCMs I've built and is wonderfully easy to play. The only drawback is the abundance of plants, which need a LOT of care; the gardener just can't keep up.

Early on I switched out a couple of the trees for Grapholina's Divine Lime Tree, which doesn't drop leaves. Her website no longer exists, it's not offered on her MTS page, and I've been unable to find a direct link for it anywhere online; it seems you can only get it in downloaded lots. With the permission of MTS Staff I'd like to include it here as a direct download.
