Nasty Newman Ruins the Evening Part 3

‘You’ve grown so much since I last saw you. You not only look like your mother, but you favor your Uncle Remington as well.
When Newman spoke to my Uncle, he still couldn't seem to tear his eyes away from mine. '
It’s amazing how much Lanie takes after the Mansfield side of the family.'
The way he was studying me was giving me the creeps.

'Please tell me Remington, that Trent’s getting her modeling jobs.’
When Trent was helping me with my make over, we’d talked about my doing other modeling jobs besides Phelps.
Trent thought it would be something special we could do together and that I would gain a bit of confidence.
He also thought it would be a good way for me to save for college. Not to mention, I would get both clothing and product samples in the bargain. I planned to talk to my Uncle about it tomorrow, while Trent had his visitation with Roberta.
I kept all this to myself and wished with all my heart that Newman would just go away.
‘Lanie has never expressed an interest in modeling or a show business career.’
My Uncle’s tone was sharp. I could see that he didn’t like the way Newman was appraising me either.
‘Remington, please, I’ll tell you what, I’m free tomorrow night. Why don’t you and Trent come over.
Let’s just see if we can’t talk out our differences. I want to prove to you that I’ve changed.'

Newman stopped to caress Helen's shoulders in a familiar way. That also creeped me out.
'The lovely Helen can act as moderator. Think of the things the three of us can do as a team!’
‘You’ve got to be kidding!’
My Uncle was appalled at the very idea of breaking bread with Newman.
Newman’s gaze shifted once again on me.
There was something that flashed in his eyes and behind that big crocodile smile that made my hair stand on edge.
‘I would love to get to know Lanie and be at least a kindly Uncle figure in her life.’

My Uncle went livid.
He shot out of his seat and got right up in Newman’s face.
Everyone in the coffee shop turned to stare.
‘There is no way in hell that I’ll ever let you near my daughter!’

My note: Sorry to be icking you out so much IrishGrace. LOL!
