Newman's POV Cont...

‘Mary, I think I’m actually falling for Helen. If I didn’t know better, I would think she was your reincarnation.
Oh! Come on! Don’t look at me like that!
You can’t expect me to grow old without some one young and lovely at my side.
Perhaps, you're even jealous....’

‘I knew when I first saw Helen that she had potential. She too has that star aura surrounding her.
That fool Trent wasn’t doing her justice.
There are roles available for women now, that Sasha would have killed to have auditioned for.
The world was changing and Trent refused to get with the times. It was quite frustrating to watch.
Just speaking to Helen, back then, I knew I wouldn’t have been able to seduce her away.
(I can only imagine what Trent and Remy told her about me.)
Plan B was to enlist Stuart’s help and have him date her.
I even offered the little S.O.B. a substantial raise to wine and dine her.
He flatly refused. I didn’t realise at the time that girls aren’t his thing.
(I've chalked that up as one of many disappointments life has dealt me. )
However; Reg volunteered for the job.
Unlike Stuart he had ambition and the raw drive to get ahead in the world.
What’s that Mary?
Yes, the same Reg that’s married to Helen now.
He and Stuart met in the juvenile detention center.
Reg is a little bit older than Stuart, but they became best friends.
I knew when I first saw Reg, that he had to be a Harris.
I was interested to see if he was anything like his Uncle before him.
I hoped he could fill the vacant spot his predecessor left behind.

Reg isn’t the cold blooded criminal that Ralph was, but they both allowed a woman to get under their skin.
With Reg it was Helen. He truly fell for her.
With Ralph, Sasha had gotten to him.
When I moved out, I put him in charge of looking after her.
The witch must have worked her vodoo on him.’

‘When Sasha died, Ralph confronted me. Like everyone else he assumed I killed her.
He was nuts with grief and told me that Sasha had been after him to confess to his crimes.
The nut jobber was actually going to do that, after he killed me!
Luckily, he was an even bigger idiot than Reg.
We struggled for the gun...It went off and I was the one left standing.
It was really inconvenient for him to pull that stunt when I was being investigated by the police.
I was paranoid for weeks that I was going to be handcuffed and taken to jail.
Sasha had been sloppy in her attempts to frame me.
The investigation wrapped quickly. Her death officially dubbed a suicide.
I was just glad that I could dispose of Ralph’s body in peace.
That’s another reason why I came to the Island.
I really needed a vacation after all that.’

‘I haven’t bothered to tell Reg about his family history.
The Harris family were nothing more than a bunch of criminal low lives.
Reg’s mother was Ralph’s sister. Everyone who lived in Hawthorn knew ‘Run Around Sue’.
When I was first introduced to Reg, I carefully probed him, to see what he knew.
It turns out that Sue didn’t raise him.
Reg was taken away by social services when he was five years old.
The only blood relations he remembers are his wh**e mother and a grandmother that died after he was placed in the foster care system.
